    I've installed the Genesis Theme many times with great results. Just this morning I installed it for a client and for some bizarre reason posts and pages cannot be saved. All the information in the side bar that allows you to save and add a featured image is empty. Please look at this screen shot: http://imgur.com/BfWIfg1

    This is just a shot in the dark, but...do you see near the top of your screenshot...the "Screen Options" tab. Activate the tab so you can see the screen options, and it's possible than some of the features that are missing are missing because they are unchecked. It's possible this is all that's wrong.

    @MoodyRiviera, yes I did play around with that but unfortunately it does not solve this awful problem.

    okay, (more of a brain fart and much less a stroke of genius) but I solved this problem.
    when I uploaded the wp files using filezilla from local to remote server, there was in fact some problems. under the "failed transfers" tab there were a few files that did not ftp properly. ... most notably "meta-boxes.php"

    once I re-sent this file everything worked just fine.
