I am cleaning up my site and removing a lot of unused categories,

I have one called wedding and I also have a tag called wedding

I cannot delete either of them - it goes red and at the top I get a message saying not allowed.

If I try to edit either of them it says You need a higher level of permisson?

I am admin on the site

Latest WordPress and Genesis - any ideas anyone?

That's an issue you might want to address on your hosting accounting. Sounds like something odd and could be a plugin conflict as well.

Try adding another administrator account, then see if that account can delete the categories. If so, then your original user id may be corrupt or compromised.

Thanks for your reply, I tried creating a new admin user and that still has the same outcome - "you are not allowed to do that"

Working through plugins now - can't see it's a hosting issue
