    I would like the first blog post on my blog page to show up as an excerpt. I found a post in this forum with some code that allowed the search results to show up as excerpts. But for some reason, I can't figure out how to make the first post show as an excerpt too.

    BTW, I am not using a static front page for this site - http://www.ravenboymusic.com/

    Is there a quick way to do this? Thanks.

    You can set the content limit in the home.php file. Look for this:

    	if ( function_exists( 'genesis_grid_loop' ) ) {
    		genesis_grid_loop( array(
    			'features'				=> 1,
    			'feature_image_size'	=> 0,
    			'feature_image_class' 	=> 'alignleft post-image',
    			'feature_content_limit' => 0,
    			'grid_image_size'		=> 'grid-featured',
    			'grid_image_class'		=> 'grid-featured',
    			'grid_content_limit' 	=> 250,
    			'more'					=> __( '[Continue reading]', 'eleven40' ),

    Change the 0 in the featured_content_limit to what you want.

    Thanks Anitac. I changed it to a 1 and then all I get is the headline of the first post. And it seems like that is the case no matter what non-zero number I put in there. Is there no way to make it be the picture and the first hundred words of the post or something like that?

    Your answer did help a lot though! As a "next-best-thing" I've set the number of features to 0, which is closer to what I want than what I had.

    The main problem was that if the entire post was visible on the blog page, there was no reason for folks to click through to the article.

    Thanks.

    Oh, no... you need to change it to the number of characters - like 250, or 300.

    See your grid_content_limit is set to 250 characters. So you can change the feature to 100, 200, 250.. or whatever you want.
