Building Landing Pages With Genesis

Hi,

I have been using the Divi Builder to design landing pages so far, and while they do look great, the plugin is clunky and I want to lose my dependency on it.

How hard is it to design long-form landing pages on Genesis? Is there any guide? Is it learnable in a few days? Is there anyone who designs them (I'll give the sales copy of course) and for what price range normally?

Many of the Studio Press child themes come with landing page templates. Just create a page as you normally would in WordPress, assign the landing page template to it and you're done.

The issue you'll face in moving away from Divi is building the landing page CSS yourself. You'll also find that by building a page the traditional way, your content will remain clean as opposed to the damage Divi does by inserting its shortcodes into your content. It's really hard to clean up your content and make it presentable again after moving away from Divi.

Thanks Victor!

I'm not talking about regular landing pages. I'm talking about designs with multiple columns and full-width pictures etc etc, the way I create with Divi. Colourful sales pages that spark with creativity. I'd like to create something like that without shortcakes and plugins, even if it means hiring someone to create the page and put the text in there. How expensive will a page like this be, or how easy will it be to learn to create?

This is just standard HTML and CSS. If you know both, you already have what you need.

How easily is it to replicate under Genesis?

I'd like to create a multiple-column sales page for my book on my website, and I don't want to use Divi just for this one page. Any already-made layout/template I can use to just insert the words or anything?

"Easy" is a subjective term. What I find to be easy may be beyond another individual's skill set.

The page you are directing us to is not what I would call a landing page. It is a home page because it has a menu and footer. Landing pages don't have either.

Pages like the example are generally done with a widgetized front-page.php template. This means you also have to know PHP in order to make the widgets appear on the Appearance/Widgets page, and to display on the home page itself. By the time you add the CSS, you could be looking at a couple of days' worth of work.

BTW, if you look at the example page in Pagespeed Insights, it is one of the most poorly performing pages I've seen. It scored a 0 out of 100 for Desktop and 21 out of 100 for mobile. That's not a good example to follow.

Since you don't know CSS, and I'm assuming PHP, my suggestion is to find a developer who can help you.

Sounds difficult.

But what if I don't want it on the homepage? Say, for example, I want to recreate this page (regevelya.co.il), which is made with Divi, in a separate page by itself on my main site -- is that possible without creating widgetized areas in Php, and by simply using columns etc in the Text mode in WordPress?

And if not - how much would an above-average Genesis designer charge (estimate range) to create one page like that out of text that I provide?

You can do this as a standard page in HTML/CSS as was my first suggestion. Without seeing your content, it's not possible to give an accurate estimate. The HTML part is easy. The CSS takes the most time. Developer rates are variable based on a number of factors. A very long, single page could take as much as a full day or two to tweak to perfection. You could be spending upwards of $1,000USD or more for an above-average Genesis designer.

Truthfully though, you probably don't need someone that specializes in Genesis. Doing it as a standard page is just HTML/CSS, no Genesis coding required.

Is there an how-to guide on creating those kinds of pages yourself? I'd love to have that skill.

P.S where would be a good place to find a good WordPress designer to create those in case it's too overwhelming for me?

There are literally thousands of HTML/CSS classes available on the web or elsewhere. Many of them free. Google HtmL/CSS training to find something near you.
