    How can I change the font size and color of the default blockquote? It is too light gray to be easily read on my site.

    Hi,
    Quick and easy change in your style.css. (Appearance.... Edit) You'll need to edit, comment out, or delete this code:

    blockquote, blockquote:before {
    color: #999999;
    }

    No effect. I tried deleting the code you supplied. Replaced it and change the color value and even played around with some other code.

    blockquote,
    block quote::before {
    color: #999;
    }

    blockquote {
    margin: 40px 40px 24px;
    margin: 4rem 4rem 2.4rem;
    }

    blockquote::before {
    content: "\201C";
    display: block;
    font-size: 30px;
    font-size: 3rem;
    height: 0;
    left: -20px;
    position: relative;
    top: -10px;
    }
