Hey guys, I'm a bit of a newb here, I was hoping you could help me with something.
I recently purchased a theme from Studiopress, and it works great. On my old theme, there was a subscribe to RSS feed button at the top. There is none on my new theme. So 2 questions:
1) How to I install a "Subscribe to RSS feed" button, where people who subscribe automatically get updated? and
2) For all the people who signed up to my old RSS- will they still get the feed, or will they need to sign up again? If it's the latter... is there any way to change it to the former? 🙂
Thanks in advance to any help. It is greatly appreciated!
February 8, 2013 at 2:48 am #18885vajrasarMemberRead this one, this will give you a heads up on where to start -
http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/step-by-step-guide-to-setup-feedburner-for-wordpress/
And I don't believe that migrating users from one account to another is possible, still if someone would know how to do that, they will reply. 🙂
I make WordPress websites using Genesis Framework.
February 8, 2013 at 3:32 am #18897[email protected]MemberSo.. are you saying I lose all my previous RSS subscribers? That would have been useful information before switching themes.
February 8, 2013 at 6:46 am #18912vajrasarMemberOh am sorry, if you have not changed domains then your subscribers have not gone anywhere. Were you using Feedburner before the theme switch?

February 9, 2013 at 2:06 am #19190[email protected]MemberNo, I wasn't using Feed burner. It seems cool, though, I should start.
I just checked mysite.com/feed and it has posts from before and after the switch, so I think I'm good.
February 9, 2013 at 2:27 am #19193AnitaCKeymasterJust an FYI, Google stopped support for Feedburner back in October 2012. You should look for an alternate. If your subscribers used the traditional feed and you add it back via the button, your subscribers will still receive the information.

February 9, 2013 at 7:22 pm #19305docstwMemberI know of the Feedburner shutdown that is proposed, certain features already taken off. It seems like it was shut down completely last week and for some magical reason reappeared a day later (that was something I experienced and saw in some posts, but it could simply have been temporarily down).
In any event, what are some viable options? I link my feed to a mailchimp list manager. It would be disastrous to lose all of the feed functionality!
Thanks for any help/suggestions.

"add it back via the button" ?
Thanks.

February 10, 2013 at 7:05 am #19352docstwMemberThank you! The URL is: http://www.healthyworkplaces.info and http://milieuxdetravailsains.info.
February 10, 2013 at 7:13 am #19354AnitaCKeymasterYou see were the date is located on the navigation on the right - you can change that to the RSS feed icons:
Go to Genesis > Theme Settings, scroll down to the Primary Navigation - click the drop down on "Display the Following" to RSS, then SAVE.

February 10, 2013 at 7:16 am #19355AnitaCKeymasterOh, and if that isn't what you want - look here, there are 3 social media plugins you could use down where you have yours now which will add the RSS feed to your third-party feeder - http://www.studiopress.com/plugins.

February 10, 2013 at 7:39 am #19356docstwMemberThank you for the time. Maybe I should be certain I'm clear before I chase down the wrong (or right) routes. Here is a link to the newsletter I send out automatically every morning, via a Campaign being released to my subscriber list on MailChimp (that list currently being fed from the blog I think via feedburner as well.
1 . I am using the Genesis eNews Extended Widget. I am not using the Google/Feedburner ID but rather the form action http://healthyworkpalces.us2.list-manage.
2. The newsletter is sent each day there are any updates at a pre-determined time, via a Campaign being released to my subscriber list (the Campaign and List on MailChimp).
Do you think I should still chase down your suggestions?
February 10, 2013 at 7:40 am #19357docstwMemberFebruary 10, 2013 at 9:06 am #19367AnitaCKeymasterOkay now.... to back track.. if you are using MailChimp then I would assume you need to add the Mailchimp widget to the website to capture your email addresses versus using the RSS feed. There should be a plugin or Mailchimp can provide you with what you need. I will unsubscribe from this because I cannot help you any further. Good luck.
