ParticipantI there any way to have the images on book pages and everywhere else sized to square?
I want to try using the Author Pro theme for CDs instead of books.
There was a question about this in the forum, but seemed unsolved.

ParticipantI'm working locally in MAMP, so tricky to do that. Will take a bit of time to get onto live server, I'll come back when I've done that, but can't happen till tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply.May 4, 2017 at 2:52 pm #205912Brad Dalton

ParticipantNot the front page, if you click into a book by going down to the next widget area, you get the image of the book on the right hand side.
In that widget area if I specify a square featured image then it appears in the widget as that, however when I go to the book page it uses the default book image size, which creates a letterbox of the image with a portrait rectangle ( thats the same size as the images you see on the book page in the demo).
There's features in the theme that I thought I could use, like author, series, stuff like that, but I'm realising I would have to alter the category names as well ( or try!) so it came up as 'artist' rather than 'book-author' on the urls.
This theme has quite a lot of background linking of info in conjunction with the Author Pro plugin, so not so easy!

ParticipantSorry, newbie!
Here's what I wrote:-
Hi Bradd
Thanks for having a look at this, I'm in the UK and it getting on a bit!
The idea was to see if it was simple to change the size of the images and also rename some of the categories and taxonomy. It looks like its really quite a job, I'm seeing that the theme is creating image sizes to suit the defaults and I have tried renaming the categories in the relevant php files, which has the effect of stopping the theme working properly.
I think I'll get in touch directly with Studiopress and see if they can shed some light on what I'm trying to do. Maybe they can think about releasing a similar theme but aimed at CDs or at least items with different sizes other than their default book!
Thanks for your input, much appreciated, I just think its quite a big job and I don't want to take up a whole load of your time.
Cheers
Iain

ParticipantNo worries. I will put this on my tutorial "to do list" and possibly publish something over the next few days.

ParticipantCheers Brad.
I definitely think that this theme would be great for small labels (music), if it could be customised. Being able to easily get to titles that particular artists have played on etc would be very cool. I know that a search function or a tagging system can do that but this theme has great potential for streamlining it imho.
Not sure how it would handle a large amount of 'books (cds)' and Authors (artists), but like I say for a small label, would be great.
All the best!
