Will the Associate theme be upgraded to a responsive theme anytime soon?

Need Genesis help? Davinder @ iGuiding Media | My Blog | Fresh Genesis ThemesJune 7, 2015 at 1:25 pm #155248pettycMemberHello,
I also have the Associate Theme and it doesn't seem to be responsive. The Studiopress website says all their themes are responsive. Did I do something wrong when I installed the theme?June 7, 2015 at 1:49 pm #155251MoodyRivieraMemberI haven't read the entire StudioPress web site, but I'm reasonably sure you won't find any place where they say that all their themes are responsive.
The more recent themes...when you see the word "Pro" in the name of the theme...those themes are responsive...that's what to look for if you want responsive.

I'm new to WordPress AND obviously themes 🙂
I guess I misinterpreted the FAQ page. Sorry. Do you know if there is an responsive upgrade the the Associate theme?Do your themes work with mobile devices?
All of our themes display beautifully on mobile devices.
We also have a growing number of themes that are specifically designed to be “mobile responsive”, allowing your theme to automatically adapt to any mobile device on the market.
Find a forum of our mobile responsive themes here.
June 7, 2015 at 3:05 pm #155263MoodyRivieraMemberIf you go to the the StudioPress "WordPress Themes" page (http://my.studiopress.com/themes/) you'll see there is a way to filter through the various themes for the features you want...this will let you filter for "Mobile Responsive" themes.

June 7, 2015 at 3:08 pm #155264MoodyRivieraMemberThe part of the FAQ page you quoted is correct. It points out that "a growing number of the themes" are "mobile responsive"...that's true.
It also says that all their themes display beautifully on mobile devices. This is also true in my experience...but displaying beautifully on mobile devices is not the same as saying they are "mobile responsive"...so yes, you did misinterpret that.

June 7, 2015 at 4:31 pm #155266pettycMemberIf I switch to one of the responsive themes and then decide to switch back to my original theme for some strange reason, will my site look the same as it does now or will I have to make adjustments.
Thank you so much for your help.
June 7, 2015 at 5:27 pm #155275MoodyRivieraMemberIn my (limited) experience, and based on what I've read from experienced users, every time you switch themes on any complex WordPress site you're going to have to do some work to get things the way you want. I don't think it's ever just "a couple clicks and done" proposition.
Here's a video on this topic that might help you think about it...BobWP is a very well-known guy who knows what he's talking about.

June 8, 2015 at 8:59 pm #155478pettycMemberOK - Thanks for you help and of course I have a million questions.. Please keep in mind I am a WordPress newbie. I am using the Associates theme as you know. My home page uses the Home Middle #1, 2, 3 etc and it looks good - http://hbrowerlaw.com . I used the Jetpack Mobile theme to make my the site viewable on mobile devices. However, when I view the site on my cell phone it shows the menu as a drop-down and when I click on the 'Home' menu it take me to my latest post, not the home page. Do you know why it takes me there instead of the home page when I go to http://hbrowerlaw.com. Do I have something set up wrong in my menu?
June 9, 2015 at 8:56 am #155571MoodyRivieraMemberWhile there's nothing "wrong" with using an old theme and then trying to make it responsive with a plugin, if I were you I would bite the bullet (it won't hurt too much) and start over with a new, responsive theme. The result will be much better than what you're going to get with the old Associate theme, and chances are that the responsive aspects of the theme will work much better.
If you don't want to do that, now that your questions about responsiveness have been answered, you should start a new forum string to ask your question about what happens when you click on the Home menu, etc. – because the people who can answer that question probably won't see your question in the current string.

June 9, 2015 at 7:56 pm #155657pettycMemberThe reason I'm hesitant about going to a new theme is because I am really new at this and it will take me a while to get the new theme up and running. In the meantime the live site could look really bad. Can you recommend a theme close to the Associates theme. That way when I get brave I can give it a shot.
In the meantime, I will post my question to a new forum string. Hopefully someone can help a newbie 🙂 Thanks for your help. I do appreciate it and I need all the help I can get.
June 10, 2015 at 10:19 am #155737MoodyRivieraMemberI understand your worries. Trying to figure out this stuff is hard.
And trying to recommend a theme that's "close to the Associate theme" is difficult, because what I think is close may be way off from what you think is close.
Two StudioPress themes that come to mind are the Executive Pro theme and the Outreach Pro theme...and of course if you search around various developers who develop themes for the Genesis framework, you can find a lot more.

June 13, 2015 at 5:14 pm #156137TomParticipantThe Associate theme was published prior to the push to responsive themes, and is no longer sold* by StudioPress, so it wouldn't be fair to rely on it being responsive or included it with their marketing of current themes.
If/when Associate is re-released as "Pro" I don't think it will be an upgrade for existing Associate users as it will be a "new" theme. ( I could easily be wrong here 🙂 - for pre-sales questions > http://www.studiopress.com/contact )
Another plugin you might want to try is WP-Touch. Popular, but I can't say it works/perfectly with Genesis/Associate.
When you're looking at using a new theme, also consider the 75++ theme authors that publish great themes for Genesis - see the links in my signature, below.
