I am running the new version of XAMPP on Windows 10 which uses MariaDB instead of MySQL. I installed WordPress and all sample pages & posts worked fine.

I then installed the Genesis Framework and Showcase Pro child theme. I activated Showcase. I changed the Settings -> Reading Settings to use a static page for the front page. I added 4 new pages, and created a menu that links to them all. The home page renders fine. But if I click on a link in the top navigation, though the URL in the browser changes to the correct page URL, the page doesn't render and throws the following error messages:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at postmaster@localhost to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.4.17 (Win32) OpenSSL/1.0.2d PHP/5.6.20 Server at localhost Port 80

    Ideas?

    Hi,

sounds like a problem with permalinks / .htaccess.

Sometimes re-saving permalinks helps, sometimes you have to delete the .htaccess, sometimes you have to create the .htaccess, sometimes you have to change the write permissions to .htaccess and lots more variations of possible fixes.

WP and Genesis, and it appears to be working now.
