I'm considering the idea of creating a blog to feature content as it relates to local events, restaurants, and happenings in our small town... I live in a beach / tourist resort town and think it would be a fun project to start.

Curious if anyone has done this in their own town, or have examples/models to look at. What has been your experience and do you have any words of wisdom to share.

    Sincerely,
    Carl Ross

    Hi Carl,

I´ve seen a bunch of sites like this.
If you google city/town name + tourist info or city guide you will find thousands of examples.
Here is an example, albeit in German, of a Tourist Information / Tour Guide website.
(Not my work. Just answered a question about it on this forum)

The most important thing is to write about and do what you enjoy.
If you enjoy talking with people, you can include podcasts/interviews about upcoming events or what makes this restaurant special.
If you enjoy shooting videos, include that...
If you enjoy networking contact your local chamber of commerce, restaurants, hotels, resorts, etc... and see how you can help each other.

After you have an idea of what you want to do and what you want to achieve (What is the purpose of this project?) the most important thing is to start implementing. You can fine tune and even change direction completely as you go along.

Thanks for your feedback Christoph. I appreciate it.

You've provided some great ideas for a starting point. Did u have a link to that 'German' tourist site? I didn't see a link?

    Ooops!
    Sorry about the missing link:

It is using the Outreach Pro theme.
