Here's a site I just finished on the Altitude Pro theme. It's my fourth Genesis website. http://www.wmp1k.com/

I chose this theme for its simplicity and its ability to tell a story using home page widgets. What do you think? Is there anything you would change?

    Thanks!

Overall very nice. I have a few suggestions:
The initial header, menu and logo get a little lost with the white clouds behind them, I would doctor the background image to just have the blue sky behind the header.
The "Child Hunger" section with the tray getting cut off looks a little strange, I would make that image taller.
The "Backpack" image is much too tall, the interesting part of the image is the boy's face.

Hi Lynne. Thanks for your input. I agree with everything you suggested and was in the process of making some of those changes.

Unfortunately, the bottom of the school tray is pretty ugly, which is why that image is cut-off. I couldn't find any other good stock images or I would certainly replace it. As for the backpack image, that's how that image is cropped by the photographer. Plus, I don't want to lose the backpack straps, which help support that page.

As for the widget area height, unfortunately that's how this particular theme works. Please see the demo: http://my.studiopress.com/themes/altitude/#demo-full I'm not sure why StudioPress designed it this way because I found that very frustrating as well. If anyone knows how to fix that I would certainly appreciate the help.

Thanks again for your comments. 🙂

Here is an isolated image of the school lunch tray. Canstockphoto have very reasonable rates $25 for 35 credits and most web images only need 2-3 credits.

I am not very familiar with Altitude Pro, but you could probably reduce the padding of the .flexible-widgets for the section that requires less height.

Nice. Thanks! Looks like the same image. Must have missed it.

BTW, the school lunch tray being cut-off was kind of a design style too, so that really didn't bother me. 🙂

The lunch tray being cut off does not look like a design decision. If there was some visual separation between the bottom of the tray and the image below it might..., but that is not the case. So it just looks like you ran out of space. In fact both images look cut off, the tray at the bottom and the boy's face at the top which does not appear until you scroll.

Well, I respectfully disagree and the scrolling to reveal the image is the nature of this theme and the parallax effect. Plus, if you use the green buttons on each page, the page automatically scrolls to the appropriate position.

Okay Lynne, I have to agree. You were right about the tray. 🙂

It's nice, but perhaps you want to replace the Genesis Favicon with something of your own 🙂
