Hello, couple questions about this theme...

Header - the dark gray header background appears to be set with a .5 transparency setting. I would like it more black (for example .75) so have spent some time trying to figure this out - I can change it perfectly in FireBug but cannot seem to get the change to reflect on the site after editing the css.

Home Page - We wanted to put 2-3 images below the header - we're flexible in the way to accomplish this and have tried using the Welcome Widget and also tried using a separate page set as the home page, but both seem to have narrower right/left margins than the 2 col blog posts displayed below it.
How can we create a content area between the header and 2 col blog post images section which has the same right/left alignment as the blog post section? Or else assign a page which has the wider right/left margins as the demos homepage?

New to theme and first time posting here, so if this question belongs elsewhere, please advise - thank you!

For instance, where would we be able to change the width of the Welcome Widget ?
