I'm looking for masonry-style theme with a number of stories with thumbnails on the front page. Some control over length of excerpt. That isn't quite the same as one that says 'featured post' everywhere because on a news/magazine masonry layout, every post has equal value. Something like WordPress/Ghost Ivy (but that's not a Genesis theme).

    Any suggestions?

@Susan Thanks for that. I might have passed over Pretty Sweet because it presents as quite a 'girly' look (not what I had in mind!) but I guess all of that could be tweaked. I don't know how easily...

I can see that this is a true masonry approach which is the design brief at present.

You could use an existing theme and edit with these tutorials:

Genesis Page Template for displaying Posts in Masonry

Does require subscription but might be same price as buying a theme. Depends on your needs.

Here's a free tutorial on how it's done

Masonry and Infinite scroll with Genesis

    Here's a collection of masonry.

@iangreig - it is a feminine theme, but the colors etc. can be customized. I work for Pretty Darn Cute Design, and provide all their theme support & do all their customizations, so feel free to ask me any questions 🙂
