I've been working on highly optimizing my website before launch, and am amazed at what I'm seeing with Adsense. According to Pingdom, Adsense is adding 17 HTTP requests, that DOUBLES my current site setup. As is, I have only 18 HTTP reuqests without the add, with it, I go up to 34-40.

    With Ad:

    Page size
    601.1kB
    Load time
    1.54s
    Requests
    36
    Perf. grade
    76/100

    Without Ad:

    Page size
    374.4kB
    Load time
    699ms
    Requests
    18
    Perf. grade
    86/100

I know I'm kind of "over optimizing" at this point, but I really want my site to run smoothly once launched, and that means keeping load times light. Does Adsense really add this many requests, and is this acceptable? Luckily, I'll eventually be working directly with local businesses, and hosting advertisements for them on my own server. Anyway, any thoughts on these findings?

I'm still looking for some information on this.
