If you look at http://www.meissnernordic.org/ there are two posts on the Home page in the Annoucments section:

    • Matching Grant with Subaru of Bend!
    • Piston Bully Delivery Slated for Mid-November!

If you click on the top one (Matching Grant) it's fine, but if you click on the Piston Bully post you get a 404 error.

Looking at the URLs more closely, the Piston Bully URL has an extra "category" within the path:
    http://www.meissnernordic.org/announcements/meissner-oil-change-bonanza-at-subaru-of-bend/
    http://www.meissnernordic.org/category/announcements/piston-bully-delivery-slated-for-mid-november/

The Piston Bully post is assigned to two categories while the Matching Grant is not.
The site is built on Genesis, with the announcements section on the Home page generated via the Genesis - Featured Post plugin.
Therefore, I'm wondering if the Genesis plugin is inserting the "category" reference within the URL and how I might be able to fix that.

    Thoughts?

Open up the one with the 404, open up the URL and see if you can edit it. Also - check the slug to see how it's set up.

The issue is that the post's URL is supposed to be:
    http://www.meissnernordic.org/announcements/piston-bully-delivery-slated-for-mid-november/
...and that is the URL that opens without a 404, that's what listed as the shortlink, etc.

But instead the link is being listed in the Genesis Featured Posts widget as:
    http://www.meissnernordic.org/category/announcements/piston-bully-delivery-slated-for-mid-november/
...which is incorrect and gives a 404

So I'm trying to figure out why the featured post is pulling in an incorrect URL and where it's pulling that information from.
