I'm still figuring much of this out as I go (taking a while to get to grips but quite rewarding).

I would like to be able to add a subtle search option at the top of my page, preferably at the very right of my main menu. I'm using the Altitude Pro theme on the Genesis framework and i've seen the little magnifying glass that drops down to the search box used on the showcased site for that theme and i'd like to have something similar, if not replicating this exact option at least something similar (I find the default search box too large).

I'm open to suggestions on how to do this, figured it would be worth having a search tool for my site visitors for when my post numbers begin to increase. Any help appreciated (please speak slowly for the slow to catch up hehe)

That's great. Will have a tinker with this over the weekend and see how I get on (or how much trouble I get into....)

    Thanks

Just a quick check - had a play and doesn't seem to be working exactly as planned...can you verify where i'm supposed to be adding this code to in the post you linked?

Also, is there a way to not have it full width?

    TY

Yes, that solution is a bit complicated to implement. You might have an easier time with a tutorial from Sridhar - https://sridharkatakam.com/expanding-search-box-genesis/

His tutorials are on a membership site, that costs $10/mo to join. I subscribe and find it very helpful for me.

    Just a suggestion.

Also, is there a way to not have it full width? <- not sure what you mean here? Full widget content on the home page or other pages?

    Thanks, will check that out.

The full width issue was the example on the original link you sent had a drop down search box but the search area ended up being in a new menu item which extended across the whole screen rather than it just being the search box itself.

The thing I had in mind was like this search box: http://dustn.tv/socialmedia/blogging/

Thanks anyway, will see what I can come up with.
