    Hello,
I've looked everywhere and I can't seem to find the right code or a plugin to add comments to a category page.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Elaine,
That's definitely not standard equipment. To me, the WordPress default makes more sense - having comments attached only to the single Post that they relate to.

If I'm following you, that would mean all comments on all posts in a category would appear on a Category page. Is that what you're looking for? If so, that's definitely some custom programming, which I'd consider out-of-scope here. Unless maybe you can find a plugin to do that and stick it in a sidebar or footer, I don't know of one.

It is fairly easy to add a comments box for a Category Archive Page, though. But then you're commenting on the big list of Post in that category, and to me that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But if you want that, I can show you, just let me know.

    Cheers, Dave

    Thanks David.
Yes, I know it's not standard. This client project has been anything but. I'm eager to finish and move on, and this was the last request the client made.
He has had me set up all of his posts in a particular category display on one category page. He would like people to just be able to comment on that page, and disable comments per post.
Thanks again for your help - I appreciate it!

    Elaine,
I totally hear you. I get requests that are equally zany, or much worse. Those people never make it into my portfolio, of course. No sense in showing super wrong stuff. 馃檪

Here's a little bit of code just for you. I think that should do it for you. I put it there because now this forum eats code. 馃檪

    Cheers, Dave

Yeah, I am not putting my name on this site. Notice I didn't link it here! I never skip the link.
Thanks so much Dave, I will take a look at this and let you know how it goes!

That helped a lot Dave, thanks! I have a comment form showing, but I'm not seeing the CTA to add a comment. I'm using this code to change the CTA to "please comment." I'm trying to figure out how to add that to the category page.

    Great!
Gee, what you had looks pretty good. Not sure what's wrong, unless the extra "nabm" borked something?

I added another line that worked for me in my code.

    Hi Elaine,
Just FYI... I see a private message above... if that was meant to reach me, I can't see it.

    Cheers, Dave

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for responding. Things got totally out of whack on this site when I tried putting comments on the category pages. I had to tell the client it would be best to just keep the comments on the posts.
    Thanks again!
