Hello
I'm looking to get some input how to go about having a site in 2 languages.

I understand there is a multisite installation, WPML and maybe Multilingual Press Pro which looks interesting to me - it can be found here: http://marketpress.com/product/multilingual-press-pro/

Does anybody have some experience with these - how would you go about it?

There are lots of ways to do this, Automated translations are never great and sometimes awful. You really need to think very hard about what you want to achieve on the final site.
