Announced earlier today, Timex unveiled the latest in their evolution of the fan-favorite Q Timex range the Three Time Zone Chronograph. Blending two of the most useful complications around, this steel travel watch combines the Q format with a multi-talented feature set at a price that is likely less maybe even a lot less than you might be expecting. Ok. So it's a 40mm steel Q Timex that is 48mm lug to lug with 18mm lug widths, a bi-directional 12-hour bezel, 50 meters of water resistance, and your choice of a steel bracelet or a black synthetic rubber strap (both use quick-release spring bars). Available in black, white, orologi replica or green (the green is exclusive to timex.com), the Q Timex Three Time Zone Chronograph uses a quartz movement that provides not only a 60-minute chronograph but also an esoteric way of tracking three time zones. Allow me to attempt to break it down. The first time zone is represented by the main time display. The second is captured via the 12-hour bezel using UTC offset from the main hour hand, which is both not uncommon, and super useful. Finally, the third is displayed by the red "GMT" hand. I know what you're likely thinking where is the 24-hour scale? Well, after some sleuthing (looking at an animation of the watch running and then emailing Timex) it turns out that the red "GMT" hand orologi replica cartier is actually a second and independently adjustable 12-hour hand. When you combine that hand with the linked 24-hour sub-dial at 12, you get a 24-hour indication (AM/PM) of a third time zone. For reference, in the above images, the red hand is indicating four a.m. in the delineated time zone. Yes, the same functions could be offered without the additional hand (the 24-hour subdial has the same information) but that fourth hand really sells the whole GMT element. What I don't know, yet, is how this is set and how the date ties to the display. Presumably, the date is tied to the local (main) handset, and the red hand/24-hour display is linked and set via the crown, likely counter to the date advance action. I hope to have one of these Qs on loan soon enough, orologi replica rolex so expect a hands-on with more details and confirmation (or correction) of the above functionality. Along with the three time zones, you also get the aforementioned date at 4:30 and a 60-minute chronograph. The price? $219 on the rubber or $239 on the bracelet. Talk about a welcome respite from the four, five, six, and even seven-digit prices of some of the novelties launched last week during Watches & Wonders. What a cool Q; handsome, a bit weird, but totally useful. The price is great, the sizing is good, and you get plenty of features and loads of flexibility for travel or for simply tracking an additional time zone (or two) from home. While the time zone functionality has been managed in a fairly disparate manner, you can't really complain when it comes with a price tag of less than $250 and looks good on wrist. While there are several different ways you could set up the three zones, replica sunglasses I think I would have the main hands set to local time, home time on the red hand (so that I had a quick view of AM/PM), and then UTC on the bezel if I needed to quickly reference the +/- of another timezone (or simply UTC) while traveling. Furthermore, would you take a peek at the white one? Black accents, a matching date, and a spot of red. If you wanted to travel somewhere that might not suit a polar Explorer II, Timex has you covered. I really like these and though there are a couple of unknowns (the date and control questions above, and the overall thickness), I am very excited to get a chance to try this latest Q Timex on my wrist. Stay tuned for more on the Q Timex Three Time Zone Chronograph. Also, can we all agree that "time zone" should be one word?
