Sridhar KatakamParticipant
Add the suggested CSS at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor).
Sridhar KatakamParticipantSridhar KatakamParticipant1) Upload resized image (960 x130) to Media library by going to Media -> Add New. Copy the generated URL.
2) Add the following sample CSS code at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
#header {
background: url("http://www.roastedbeanz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Header2.png") no-repeat;
height: 130px;
}where http://www.roastedbeanz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Header2.png is the URL of header image.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantPersonally I would place custom CSS code at the end of child theme's style.css, not 'in line' i.e., wherever they appear.
Here's one method:
Set your FTP client to open files for editing in a good editor like Sublime Text.
Any time you want to update style.css or other WP files, just open them directly from FTP client in the editor and make your desired changes.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantI did the following and it worked fine for me.
Replaced header.png in child theme's images directory with yours.
Then added the following at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
#header {
width: 960px;
height: 300px;
}
Sridhar KatakamParticipantSridhar KatakamParticipantInstead of setting "Blog" Template to that Page, I think it is better to do it the standard WordPress way, which is to go to Settings -> Reading and set it as Posts page.
Then install a plugin like Widget Logic and write if conditionals so that widgets appear only on the Posts page.
Ex.:
is_home()
Enter that in Widget Logic's field in any widget and that widget will appear only on the Posts page.
is_front_page()
is the condition to use for site's homepage (front page).
Sridhar KatakamParticipantInstead of using the CSS to remove sidebar and increase content area's width, 'News' Page can be edited and 'Full Width Content' layout can be selected under 'Layout Settings' meta box.
By the way, you might want to use Genesis Extender to solve the current need without writing code.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantIn step 2, the code got chopped off. You can find it here.

Sridhar KatakamParticipant1) Edit child theme's functions.php.
Register any additional sidebars that you would like to have on your new 'News' page.
Ex.:
Add these at the end of that file:
genesis_register_sidebar(array(
'name'=>'News Top Row Left',
'id' => 'news-top-row-left',
'description' => 'This is the left section in top row of News page.',
'before_title'=>'','after_title'=>''
));genesis_register_sidebar(array(
'name'=>'News Top Row Center',
'id' => 'news-top-row-center',
'description' => 'This is the center section in top row of News page.',
'before_title'=>'','after_title'=>''
));genesis_register_sidebar(array(
'name'=>'News Top Row Right',
'id' => 'news-top-row-right',
'description' => 'This is the right section in top row of News page.',
'before_title'=>'','after_title'=>''
));2) Duplicate home.php to say, page-news.php and edit it.
Replace the content between and its closing div with, for example:
Widgets screen. There you can drag your desired widget into the News Top Row Left widget area on the right hand side.", 'genesis'); ?>
Widgets screen. There you can drag your desired widget into the News Top Row Center widget area on the right hand side.", 'genesis'); ?>
Widgets screen. There you can drag your desired widget into the News Top Row Right widget area on the right hand side.", 'genesis'); ?>
3) Create a Page titled "News". Leave its content blank. This Page will automatically use the above page-news.php template file.
4) Add the following sample code at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
.page-id-857 #sidebar {
display: none;
}.page-id-857 #content {
width: 920px;
}#news-top-row-left, #news-top-row-center, #news-top-row-right {
float: left;
}#news-top-row-left, #news-top-row-center {
width: 290px;
}#news-top-row-right {
width: 305px;
}#news-top-row-left, #news-top-row-center {
margin-right: 15px;
}where "page-id-857" is one of the body classes of this "News" page.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantPresently background of #header is http://www.roastedbeanz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Header1.png which is 200px tall.
What is the URL of your resized (130px high) image?
Sridhar KatakamParticipantSridhar KatakamParticipantAdd the following sample CSS at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor) and customize it to your liking.
.genesis_responsive_slider h2, .genesis_responsive_slider h2 a {
font-size: 20px;
font-style: italic;
}#home-featured .genesis_responsive_slider p {
font-size: 13px;
font-style: italic;
}
Sridhar KatakamParticipantTry adding the following at the end of theme's style.css (WP Dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
.content-sidebar #content {
padding-right: 10px;
}.sidebar {
width: 300px;
}
Sridhar KatakamParticipantUntil someone else gives a proper solution, here's a temporary workaround.
Add the following at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
.home .hentry {
display: none;
}
Sridhar KatakamParticipantCan you please provide the URL of your site?
Are you trying to show a static Page on your site's homepage?
Sridhar KatakamParticipantThe one in dashboard.
Profile edit screen is the page that comes when you go to Users -> All Users -> and click on the user name.
You will find Google+ field under Contact Info section.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantIssue # 1
The following is probably not the ideal way to do this, but it works at least as a temporary workaround.
Add the following at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
.page .sidebar {
display: none;
}.page #content {
/*width: 580px;*/
width: 910px;
}Issue # 2
Remove the 480px width set for 'p' element in stylesheet.
Alternately, add the following at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor)
p {
width: auto !important;
}
Sridhar KatakamParticipantAdd the following sample CSS code at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
.content-sidebar #content, .sidebar-content #content {
/*width: 600px;*/
width: 550px;
}.sidebar {
/*width: 250px;*/
width: 300px;
}Adjust the values to your liking.
