Sorry me again: I found the code on CSS tricks: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0;">
I added it in my 'Head'
I added this but it has not made any difference.
How do I make the Genesis theme unresponsive so the viewport command works?
Seb
sebgatesMemberThanks Jeni, that solved my problem. Awsome.
Thanks again - Seb
sebgatesMemberit was the Simple Edits plugin from SP
sebgatesMemberIf anyone else has this problem in future, check your plugins. One of the plugins I was using stopped the code snippet from working. I created a new install and used the code and everything worked fine.
sebgatesMemberThanks Brad, I had tried the code snippet from the SP code snippet page. For some reason it does not seem to work on the site I am building. I will try it again on the next one. I can live with the default text for now.
Thanks - Seb
sebgatesMemberOK, Thanks. It seems like it is not going to be resolved by a little css. I think I might leave it this time.
Thanks again - Seb
sebgatesMemberAbsolutely, fantastic - solved my problem. - Super - Thanks - Seb
March 31, 2013 at 5:20 am in reply to: Easy one: align the title text and widget area in the header #32231sebgatesMemberThanks Brad, that is not too far away from the solutions I was trying. The problem I get is when I scale the browser window down. The 2 elements seem to go all over the place. I could write seperate css rules for tablet and phone but I would rather try this:
If I was creating this design in Dreamweaver of some similar program, I could create a new div inside the Header div, set the max width of this new div to 1152px and the float the title left within it and float the widget div right within it.
I am relatively new to CMS development and I don't know how to create new div additions within the Genesis layout. How would I add a new div in the Header to place the title and widget in? Or I guess you could describe it as behind the title and widget div's?
Thanks - Seb
March 31, 2013 at 4:39 am in reply to: How to I make the header or footer stretch the full width of the screen? #32225sebgatesMemberSoZo, I created a site with your instructions:
I am using the Sample theme. I am trying to make a wide style layout: http://irishherbalist.xl-websites.com/ . I removed the max width of the wrap and then added the ‘margin 0′ ‘max width 1152px’ to the other inner elements. Everything seems OK apart from the site title and the right hand widget area in the header. I have tried a number of tricks to get the site title to align left above the main body of text and the same with the right hand widget. Basically what I am trying to do is make the header, title and right hand widget behave the same way it does when the wrap is 1152px as if the page were a normal rectangle. How can I resolve the problem I am having with the header?
Thanks - Seb
sebgatesMemberThanks, it appears I was making a big issue from a simple problem. I was able to achieve what I wanted by using 'Add background image'. It took me 30 seconds! I got a bit confused by the code in the Functions php file which I did not need to go near.
Thanks again - Seb
March 16, 2013 at 4:37 am in reply to: How can I increase the height of the Header background image using Sample theme #27526sebgatesMemberI figured it out, change the height in the functions.php file.
sebgatesMemberThat did it. Thanks Carrie.
sebgatesMemberThanks SoZ0. It did not work, but it made me discover a workaround that I am happy with, so the problem is solved. I have added some other styles to widgets that may have effected the side widgets, I will try implementing your solution when I start my next theme.
Thanks - Seb
sebgatesMemberI figured it out. You need to add a rss reader widget in Chrome.
sebgatesMemberOk, thanks. This answered my question and solved my problem.
sebgatesMemberOK thanks Brad, so the deal is the Featured image is only for thumbnails and if I want to add the image to top of the blog post, I would add it as an image through the media uploader. Is that correct?
sebgatesMemberSo the em value is the same as rem when looking at the charts. Is that right?
sebgatesMemberok, no worries, thanks again
sebgatesMemberThis reply has been marked as private.sebgatesMemberSorry bro, I had not heard from you for a while and deleted it. I will set it up again with same details.
