...is an excellent example of what I am trying to do... the text they have on the home page in the feature boxes is no where to be found on the actual page.
The more tag did not do anything.
Jason WeakleyMemberThanks, I think I got it figured out, had to add my other email address to my primary gravatar account.. I assume this will sync up at some point and start showing my picture...?
July 27, 2014 at 10:56 am in reply to: Content Character Limit in Featured Widget, Streamline Pro Theme #115985Jason WeakleyMemberWhat i would really like is for the space to show a defined amount of text from the excerpt for the page. Currently is shows a defined amount of text from the opening sentences of the page's content. I want the "..." to go away.
I will settle for the text coming from the page content, but I have seen examples of websites using this theme and the preview text is different from the text on the page, so I assume they are calling the text from the excerpt.
July 27, 2014 at 5:01 am in reply to: Content Character Limit in Featured Widget, Streamline Pro Theme #115961Jason WeakleyMemberI inserted it, and have refreshed the page several times... not sure I did it right, here is what the functions file looks like, I went directly into the file from my hosting account:
// Register widget areas genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-featured-1', 'name' => __( 'Home - Featured 1', 'streamline' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the first featured column on the homepage.', 'streamline' ), ) ); genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-featured-2', 'name' => __( 'Home - Featured 2', 'streamline' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the second featured column on the homepage.', 'streamline' ), ) ); genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-featured-3', 'name' => __( 'Home - Featured 3', 'streamline' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the third featured column on the homepage.', 'streamline' ), ) ); genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'after-entry', 'name' => __( 'After Entry', 'streamline' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the after entry section.', 'streamline' ), ) ); add_filter( 'g_ent', 'my_g_ent_filter' ); function my_g_ent_filter( $text ) { return str_replace( '…', '', $text ); }
July 26, 2014 at 1:21 pm in reply to: Content Character Limit in Featured Widget, Streamline Pro Theme #115923Jason WeakleyMemberI inserted this into the stylesheet for the child theme, is that the correct place to put it?
Jason WeakleyMemberHi Susan,
No this is not resolved. I am still wanting to know how to do this, although my client is no longer needing this functionality at this time. I had to tell him it was not possible for me to do it - which is true. Anyway. I would like to know how so that I can do something like it for the future.Jason WeakleyMemberHey thank you for your link and for replying! That looks promising, and I will certainly play around with it.
You can do the vimeo video the way I did by inserting the code below in the Appearance>Widgets>Home Middle (of the Agency Pro theme):
[su_row][su_column size="1/2"]<iframe src="//player.vimeo.com/video/56612188?color=fc8105" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe> <p><a href="http://vimeo.com/56612188">ROAM THIS PLACE</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/rockhousemotion">RockHouse Motion</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>[/su_column] [su_column size="1/2"]Aaron Hitchens and the fine people at Rockhouse Motion have spent some time recently with Leadburn Earl. And although he isn't featured in this video, we know you'll appreciate their talents and passion for the outdoor lifestyle. We are committed to breeding the finest Scottish Labradors as hunting companions and members of your family. Leadburn Earl is available as a stud for breeding. We are located in Alabama. Scroll down for more information.[/su_column][/su_row]
You will need to install the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin first though in order to use the [su_columns]
Shortcodes Ultimate also lets you make the sliders, and once you insert the code, you can add/remove pictures and rearrange their order by using the number associated with that media file you uploaded to WordPress. Example, I have images 51,44,43,62,77 inserted into one slideshow. If I don't want one, or want to add, it just use the 2=3 digit number wordpress assigns to each image you upload. I really like the way the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin calls images like that, and auto adjusts them to the size of the slideshow, which is also customizable by simply adjusting the numbers in the code.
Finally, I was able to call the page for http://cornerstoneretrievers.com/leadburn-earl/ directly into the homepage by using the Home-Bottom widget under Appearance. Simply drag the Genesis-Featured Page over and adjust settings to what you want. VERY SIMPLE and COOL!
Jason WeakleyMemberbump
Jason WeakleyMemberI am having trouble, I do not know coding. I can copy and paste, but I don't know what to do with this:
//* Enqueue EB Garamond and Spinnaker Google fonts add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'agency_google_fonts' ); function agency_google_fonts() { wp_enqueue_style( 'google-fonts', '//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=EB+Garamond|Spinnaker', array(), CHILD_THEME_VERSION ); }
This is located in the functions.php file when I am editing the Agency Pro theme when I am logged into WordPress>Appearances>Editor.
I can see that it is using Garamond, but I have no idea how to change it to something more like "Century Gothic"Your help is greatly appreciated!
