    The genesis() function can be found by navigating to genesis>lib>framework.php

    Hello, the sample theme is actually mobile responsive http://www.genesisframework.com/ I have used this as the starting point for several themes and it works great. The navigation menu is responsive but some of the latest themes such as eleven40(http://my.studiopress.com/themes/eleven40/) comes with a dropdown responsive menu which is pretty cool.

    Yes you are correct in assuming you will edit the child themes files directly. You cannot create a child them of a child theme. There is a way using a plugin approach that I have read on but never gave it a try. If you are comfortable with making edits then you shouldn't have a problem with using the sample theme. Good luck!

    You will make your edits to the child theme itself. You cannot create a grand child theme of Genesis.

    Its probably because in the stylesheet calls for a different logo

    .header-image .site-header .wrap {
    	background: url(images/[email protected]) no-repeat left;
    	background-size: 320px 164px;
    }

    What I have done was simply remove the "@2x" in the url. This should solve your problem.

    I do not have the time to walk you through a complete tutorial I can get you on the right track.

    1. Re-position your nav menu by placing this in your functions.php

    remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );
    add_action( 'genesis_before_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );

    This will place your menu on the top of your header.

    2. Change your CSS
    This will align the links to right and change the background color

    .nav-primary {
    background-color: #000;
    text-align: right;
    }

    From there you can continue to refine the look of the header area with simple css. If you would like the social icons in the top then that is a whole other issue.

    With the snippets above you I got your site to look like this.

    nunotmp

    I see your subscribe bar at the bottom is full width inside of a text widget. To do what you are asking is fairly simple.

    If you are comfortable with editing your functions.php file you can use something like this.
    1. register a new widget area

    genesis_register_sidebar( array(
    	'id'          => 'subscribe-area',
    	'name'        => __( 'Subscribe Area', 'genesis' ),
    	'description' => __( 'This is a widget for the subscription box.', 'genesis' ),
    ) );

    2. Create the function to house the widget area.

    function my_sub_box() {
    genesis_widget_area( 'subscribe-widget', array(
    		'before' => '<div class="subscription-area">',
    		'after'  => '</div>',
    	) );

    3. You can now hook the widget area where ever you would like. To get a full-width area you need to hook into genesis_after_header because this places your div outside of the .wrap div. If you hook into the genesis_before_content you will place your div into the .wrap div and it will not stretch full width.
    add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'my_sub_box' );

    This will display on all post you will need to add additional conditions if you would like to limit the box to certain pages.

    How are you displaying your interviews? Is this a custom post type? I see it is not an archive page.

    To get the result you want you really shouldn't need any code. The graphic above did not help?

    The image sizes are referenced in the the_post_thumbnail function. Try changing page-single to $content = the_post_thumbnail(‘thumbnail’);

    This is basically using an archive page. You should be able to view the category using something like this yourdomain.com/category you can then use the genesis theme settings to show the featured image/thumbnail under archive settings.

    Because he claimed he is new to genesis and WordPress and throwing over 100 lines of code can be a bit overwhelming. In no way was my post meant to "stir up controversy". Sometimes copy and pasting code is not the best solution for a problem. I attempted to break down the section of code to help him better understand what was going on.

    The easiest way to do this would be to remove the menu from the menu areas and instead add a custom menu widget to the header widget. Then you can use some css to get the look your are going for.

    Not sure of an easier way but it sounds like it would be best for you to create a custom post type(beer?) and create a widget to query the cpt and display it in an unordered list. Its a bit of work but this would make it easy for your client and you wont have to manually update it.

    Make sure you are setting the proper settings under the genesis theme settings. The image that is dispalying on the page linked above are not a featured image and instead just an image inserted into the post. Under your genesis theme settings make sure that " Include the Featured Image?" is checked under content archives.

    You need to use font-page.php and to just clean up brad's code a bit here is how to register a single widget.

    genesis_register_sidebar( array(
    	'id'          => 'home-widget',
    	'name'        => __( 'Home Widget', 'genesis' ),
    	'description' => __( 'This is a widget for the homepage.', 'genesis' ),
    ) );

    After you register your widget area you can call it in the front-page.php or any theme template using this

    function wpz_home_widget() {
                    genesis_widget_area( 'home-widget', array(
    		'before' => '<div class="home-widget widget-area">',
    		'after'  => '</div>',
    	) );
    }

    The wpz is just a prefix for WpZombies. You can change this to whatever you like.
    Then you can hook this widget to where ever you would like with add_action for example, if you want the widget to display just before the content you can use add_action( 'genesis_before_content', 'wpz_home_widget' );

    You can place this code

    add_action('genesis_before_loop', 'child_before_loop');
    function child_before_loop () {
        global $query_string;
        query_posts($query_string . "&order=ASC");
    }

    into your template file to only effect the page that uses this file or add conditional tags to limit the effect.
    If you want to target a page with specific page titel then you would use something like this

    if ( is_page( 'page-title' ) ) {
    add_action('genesis_before_loop', 'child_before_loop');
    function child_before_loop () {
        global $query_string;
        query_posts($query_string . "&order=ASC");
    }
    }

    have a look at the codex for some more examples. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_pageis_page Codex
