Hmm, thanks for the help..however I'm not sure what I can do about those framed sections. I took a look at it with FireBug and see what you are talking about though. I thought maybe it was a plugin but I deactivated them and checked the website again but there was no change...I'm not really sure where they are coming from...
Here is my functions.php from the child theme. Is there something on this file I could take out? - http://pastebin.com/87D7TRqt
February 24, 2013 at 5:28 pm in reply to: Website not being responsive on devices but is in the browser #22600AmberMemberThanks for the reply Bill. The website link is here (but I assume you already got it off the images), I had meant to add it in the original topic post but I guess I got side tracked. I'm not understanding how it's not working with me then. What devices are you using to test on?
I did change some widths but only to small areas of the website, like the events containing div and a few other not very big changes. The original layout I didn't change.
I've visited the website on my iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy 3 and both phones display to whole website as opposed to the media queries, yet when I re size the window the website re sizes. I'm really confused as to hat it could be.
AmberMemberI absolutely love those ideas marybaum! I'd prefer to unhook it and then hook it back in the nav wrap however I believe then I'd do this on the home.php page?
This is the top of my home.php page. I'm not sure where to even find the nav information.
<?php
add_action( 'genesis_meta', 'optimal_home_genesis_meta' );
/**
* Add widget support for homepage. If no widgets active, display the default loop.
*
*/
function optimal_home_genesis_meta() {if ( is_active_sidebar( 'slider' ) || is_active_sidebar( 'welcome' ) || is_active_sidebar( 'home-feature-sidebar' ) || is_active_sidebar( 'home-feature-1' ) || is_active_sidebar( 'home-feature-2' ) || is_active_sidebar( 'home-bottom-sidebar' ) || is_active_sidebar( 'home-featured-posts' ) || is_active_sidebar( 'home-bottom-message' ) ) {
remove_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop' );
add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'optimal_home_loop_helper_top' );
add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'optimal_home_loop_helper_middle' );
add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'optimal_home_loop_helper' );
add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout', '__genesis_return_full_width_content' );}
}AmberMemberHmm..I'm looking at it now and I could move it around with CSS but beacue it's in it's own containing div and not the #nav div I'd have to position it absolutely and then that just cases a heck of a lot of trouble. Where on the home page can I make it so the secondary navigation is at least in the #nav menu? There's gotta be a way.. This is the new website link
February 16, 2013 at 12:27 pm in reply to: Working with a static home page with the Minimum Child Theme #20697AmberMemberHello all!
Thank you so much for the replies! I really wasn't expecting some more help so this is much appreciated.
@wmwebdes
I believe we're getting closer to what I want to have done. On your home page, where your services are (under your subscribe button) is where I would like to just have some content from my home page. See the attached jpg link to see how I was hoping to have my home page laid out. I went to the link provided however I'm not really looking to spend any more money on Genesis until I can fully understand it. As with many things, there are always 100 ways to do one thing and I'm looking for a free change. I can do some back end coding, with the right tutorial I would like to do it myself.
@David Decker
As requested, a link to a jpg of what I would like it to look like is below. I was thinking this was a simple change but seeming as more and more individuals don't know what I mean, I guess it's quite a big change.It seems as if your idea about the customizing the home.php page with this code you are talking about may be the solution to my problem. If at all you could post this code I would be very appreciative! Is there still options to be able to have more widgets after the home pay content at a later date as well?
Here is the screenshot of the home page and how I'd like it to look.

February 7, 2013 at 8:08 pm in reply to: Working with a static home page with the Minimum Child Theme #18824AmberMemberI've heard of that. I've done this but I think I'm missing one more step. I've been reading up on this a bit and I believe I'm looking for my own custom loop instead of the genesis loop. Instead of showing posts I want it to show a page. Would I be asking the right question if I asked how to create a custom loop to show a specific page as opposed to the posts?
February 5, 2013 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Working with a static home page with the Minimum Child Theme #18378AmberMemberI've read the book and I know what you mean, however as the home page area is for the recent posts the closest I can get the content to come to the home page is the sidebar. Isn't there just a simple if else statement I can put in to the child statement that tells Genesis that if I choose a static home page to show the widgets on that static home page instead?
February 4, 2013 at 5:10 pm in reply to: Working with a static home page with the Minimum Child Theme #18068AmberMemberThanks for the reply Anitac. I have already reviewed this information for setting up the Mimimum theme however it does not discuss or point to any websites on how to customize the theme itself.
I'm not quite sure what you mean with your suggestion. How do you drag a widget area on the home page? Also, then this defeats the purpose of having a fully editable home page too doesn't it?
