I've noticed a weird problem with my site for about a week now: when a post is new (when it only has 3-5 comments) the post itself will disappear and it looks as if the comments are the very top thing on the screen (as in, if you try to scroll up there are no comments there).  I turned off all plugins and the problem persisted in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari (but for some reason there is never a problem in IE).

You may be able to see the problem live here:

    http://corporette.com/2012/12/07/weekly-news-update-96/#comments

or failing that, here's a screenshot of it:

http://corporette.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/119.png (note that the scroll bar is all the way at the top of the page)

As more comments are added, more of the page appears... here's another screenshot:

    http://corporette.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/122.png

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?  Like I said I turned off all my plugins and the problem persisted.

    Thanks in advance!!

Please disable all plugins and test, even the plugins you don't think are the problem. Please make sure they are all disabled at once, not just one at a time because sometimes more than one plugin is to blame.

If this gets better you can start turning on your plugins in small groups. I like to go 4 at a time so I get done 4 times faster and narrow the problem to just the 4 plugins when things break again.

If the problem you are trying to diagnose is with one of the StudioPress plugins you may leave that active to see if the other plugins are conflicting with it.

Once you know which plugin(s) is the problem please contact the plugin developer for support.

If disabeling all plugins does not resolve this please report back with as much information as you can about what happened during this part of the testing.

Hi Nick -- I went to the plugin page and deactived all 35 that I had active; not even Akismet was running on the site for a good 15-20 minutes... and the problem persisted.  It was suggested by some guys at WPMU (where I pay for support service) that I add a clear div after the #subnav div and before the #inner div in style.php -- but I can't figure out how to do that with Genesis.  Help! Went back and reread the Genesis Beginner's guide... sorry, this is my first time trying to edit the PHP myself.

    Thank you in advance...

You have two active posts on the same subject. You should keep to one of them so that people can see what others are advising you to do.

Thank you both for this.  I just deactivated all plugins except for Akismet.  (The deactivated plugins: The 34 plugins that I normally have running (currently deactivated) are: Akismet, Auto Post Thumbnail, Contact Form 7, Dagon Design Sitemap Generator, Exclude Pages from Navigation, Executable PHP widget, fbLikeBUtton, Feedburner FeedSmith, Genesis Simple Comments, Genesis Simple Edits, Genesis Simple Hooks, Genesis Simple Sidebars, Genesis Single Post Navigation, Google Analytics for WordPress, Google XML Sitemaps, Gravity Forms, GTmetrix for WordPress, GZIP Output, Login Lockdown, P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler), Post Footer, Reveal IDs, Scribe, SEO Data Transporter, Simple Social Icons, Skimlinks, SlideDeck 2 Personal, Social Profiles Widget, Subscribe to Comments, Use Google Libraries, Whydowork Adsense, WordPress.com Stats, WP-Optimize, and WP-Polls.)

So it looks normal now. So, you should reactive the plugins 1 at a time and look at the page. This will help you narrow down which one is causing the conflict.

It still looks weird for me on Firefox and Safari (and just to be sure I cleared my cache)... still looks weird.  What browser are you in, @anitac? Thanks again.

    katmmad,

You've got some serious script issues on that website. If you check it in Google Chrome with Tools > JavaScript console enabled you'll see a list of warnings and errors.

I checked the first post you linked to in this thread using Firefox, disabled all JavaScript using the Web Developer Toolbar, refreshed the page and your post appeared like it should. I did this in Chrome as well and used the Tools to disable JavaScript and the post appeared.

I'd take a close look at the advertising scripts you're using.

Hmmmn.  John, are you available as a consultant?  I think JavaScript is totally over my head.  (Or: can you recommend someone good?)
