No Studiopress theme has a perfect starting point for what I'd like to achieve.

But my needs are simple. I just want a great looking, simple homepage... something like this: http://backlinko.com/ with a simple blog to go with it.

I like the simplicity of the Genesis Sample theme so I like to use it as a basis.

Why are there not lots of "front-page" templates that people can copy and implement? It seems like there is nothing out there except the standard child themes.

I don't even know where to start... I've tried to get rid of my blog content and sidebar from the Genesis Sample homepage and can't do that without it also being removed from my other pages. Very frustrating!

Yes, this is a bit of a vent 🙂 But if anyone has any guidance or pointers for where I can start that would be great... I really thought I could simply copy code from somewhere to create the page but after searching multiple times over the last 3 years or so I still haven't found anything.

There are several front-page.php templates included in several child themes which would fairly easily enable you to achieve what you want.

Look at http://my.studiopress.com/themes/digital/#demo-full as one example

Also Centric Pro and other themes with full width sections like Smart Passive Income Pro and Infinity Pro

You could use any of these templates with a bit of CSS to get what you want.

You can create a new page and use the blog page template so your posts page is not your front page.

I have purchased the plug-in BeaverBuilder (not cheap) and they have some landing-page style pages in their templates. Might be worth looking into. I am also trying to style the Genesis Sample theme for my own website.
