I'm more of a IE user myself. Google can be evil at times. lol

You know what would be a good debate topic is what browsers do people use and why they use it. Everyone has there own reason's why for using a browser.

Let the debate begin:

I use IE at work (because our software is supported on IE and no other browsers)

I use Chrome at home

I use Firefox at school (because that's the recommended browser for their exam taking software)

I use Safari on the iPad

I'm an equal opportunity browser 🙂

For years I used FireFox almost exclusively. Way way back when I used Netscape, then Opera, then FireFox. If you are familiar with the evolution of browsers you should notice a trend, I have been avoiding IE from the beginning.

That said, ever since the rapid update cycle in FireFox I've not been happy with them. The updates seem to kill plugin functionality and they often go backwards. Back around version 5 or 6 FireFox supported CSS3 100%, now there are several CSS3 features such as box-sizing that are only available using the -moz- prefix again.

I finally abandoned FireFox despite my love for FireBug, which is the only thing that kept me on FireFox as long as I stayed. I use Chrome and Safari now. The built in developer tools are pretty good. Chrome is the better tool set of the two. In fact, when I am doing speed optimization, I find the tools in Chrome to be far superior to FireBug. I can find out much more on the load details with the built in tools than I could in FireBug with the ySlow extension.

I'm actually using Safari to type this, but I'm pretty back and forth with Safari and Chrome depending on what I need at a time. Chrome is open in another window.

I have to say I'm with Nick, I've never like IE for many reasons, for one thing it's so unstable and always crashes and until today I do not use it at all. I have always used Firefox and for the most part I was happy with it but! Seeing I love Google and everything they do I decided to move over to Google chrome and have been happy ever sense. I still use FF off and one, to compare things in a different prospective.

Google chrome has some very useful tools to make browsing the web and editing your content enjoyable not to mention the add-ons and speed, which I can't really compare to any other web browser.

@NicktheGeek Very surprised you abandoned Firebug... you've signature advocated that for as long as I have seen you on the 'old'  forum.

I still stick to the Firefox - Firebug combo as I feel way to snug in there.. But I will definitely check Chrome again (which is open all day on the second screen  anyway) While making a website I usually have Firefox, Chrome and Safari (all on windows) open with the site on it. Backend work in Firefox and the rest to see the site as a non logged in user. Whenever there is a difference in css rendering its easier to solve if you notice it when it occurs instead of hunting for it later on...
What I find very helpful is that I use 2  24" monitors of which 1 is in portrait orientation.. so 1200 x 1920px It gives such a good view of a complete website when seeing it the portrait.

Now with the responsive themes mostly keep the site on iPad and Android phone as well . And lately run a Virtual Box with Windows 8 an IE 10)
Nowadays the hardware is so fast that the differences in speed between the browsers is not important anymore. (at least on my work machine)

The good old Webdeveloper plugin from Chris Pendrick (FF) has a nice "view responsive layouts" button in the Resize section that comes in very handy these days..
