    Hey guys,

I just read this thread (http://www.studiopress.community/topic/magazine-theme-need-to-put-up-pict-of-board-members/) to see if it would help with my idea but wanted some input.

I want to have elected officials on my site be actual members that I register manually (gonna call them honorary members) and will categorize them into groups (City Officials, County Officials, State Officials and National Officials (national being the Preisident etc).

Would that be a good idea or would it be better to just do them in posts under the proper categories? What do you guys think would be best?

P.S. I got the idea from (http://www.gagop.org/elected/us-congress/) but I just don't like the way it looks and would like it to look and operate more professionally.

You can use the free version of Connections to do that - http://wordpress.org/plugins/connections/. Although it's called a Business Directory - it can showcase of directory of any types of individuals as well.

Thanks anitac, I tried it but it looks bad not matching my site. Is there some way to just lay it out on a page that's simple without adding more stuff to the site, or maybe something more lightweight I guess?

You can create a gallery using Media and add their names and titles in the Caption area. That might layout nicely for you.

Ah thank you that's perfect for our local officers.

Now what do you think about the state and national officials (President, Vice President, House, Senate etc). I would like for them each to have their own page for some photos and details. But also want to have them all on one main page with a photo, some text and a "Read More" link.

Here's a better example of what I am trying to accomplish. http://www.gop.com/our-party/leadership/ Notice how you can click their name and it takes you to their own page.

Oh, about the gallery. Should I use some kind of plugin? What's good?

The way they've set up the elected officials is by giving each one a page, adding the Read More to generate the "read more" link. Then generated one page like you want. You might want to use Widgets on Pages plugin - http://wordpress.org/plugins/widgets-on-pages/ to generate the page with everyone.

As for the Gallery, that's a native function already inside WordPress.
