When I choose "Display post excerpts" from theme settings, the category page doesn't show any text, only the title of the post.
The only way I got it to work is by adding the text in the excerpt box of the post editor page.

    Any ideas?

It should if each post in the category contains text.

There's a section under the main content editor area on the post creation page that says Excerpt. Copy and paste a portion of the post into this section and save. If you don't see the Excerpt section, look under the Screen options (top right in the header) and see if its checkbox is checked to make it visable.

“If it works, mark the post as [Resolved] so others will feel comfortable trying the solution on their website.“

Thanks, that's actually what I'm currently doing to show the Excerpt on my category pages, and it works.
I would prefer the automated way as the excerpt is always the first text paragraph from my post.
And once I disable the Excerpt section on the post creation page, I would imagine it would start automatically pulling the excerpt from the post, however, it doesn't seem to work now.

Even if you have some manual excerpts, automated ones should still get created for posts where you don't have them. I have several sites where the category archives display a mix of both types of excerpts.

Did you customize your category archives to do something different? What theme are you using, and what version of Genesis?

    Thanks!
It's weird but it got fixed by itself. I'm not sure if it was a plugin update or some custom function that had caused the problem
