    My client REALLY wants a calendar icon to display the date for featured blog posts and for regular blog posts. I'm getting close for adding it to the blog page and so far no luck applying it to a featured post on the home page. Your expertise on solving these 2 problems is greatly appreciated!!!

    Here is my code:

    /* CALENDAR DATE ICON */
    function calendar() {
    if(is_home()) { ?>
    <div class="calendaricon">
    <? echo ''; ?>
    <div class="month"><? the_modified_date('M y') ?></div>
    <div class="day"><? the_modified_date('j') ?></div>
    </div>
    <?php }
    }
    add_action('genesis_entry_header', 'calendar');

    Here is my CSS:
    .custom .calendaricon {float: left;text-align: center;margin-left: -2em;margin-right: 0.5em;margin-top: -1.5em;}
    .custom .month {color: #FFFFFF;font-family: Georgia;font-size: 10px;font-weight: bold;margin-top: -6.1em;text-transform: uppercase;}
    .custom .day {color: #000;font-family: Impact;font-size: 22px;}

    If you're using the genesis featured posts widget, you will need to modify the code in that widget after copying it to your child theme unless you find a filter to use instead.

    Another option is to display the date over an image of the calender a bit like the solution provided in this tutorial.
