How can I add a featured image to a custom post type?

I'm using Premise landing pages and I just want to add a featured image to my landing page.

    I've searched high and low.

    Using Magazine Pro theme.

You can add it in the template or hook it in using a conditional tag for cpt's http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags http://wpsites.net/web-design/code-snippets-for-adding-custom-functions/

Thanks. Do you have a training wheels version of these instructions? I've tinkered myself to death.

Are you sure its a custom post type?

    <body class="single single-landing_page postid-19 full-width-content premise-landing premise-landing-19 content-landing-page-landing premise-theme">

Can't test it because i don't have that plugin. Try this http://wpsites.net/web-design/add-image-to-custom-post-type-archive-in-genesis/

Change the conditional tag if needed from

    is_post_type_archive( 'portfolio' )

to the page template name or page i.d which you can see in the body classes above.

Sorry, I don't think that I was clear enough.

I need the featured image meta box to show on the admin pages for custom post types. Just like the featured image box shows up when editing a normal blog posts. So that I can have a unique featured image per post of my custom post type.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The featured image module normally displays on single CPT's but maybe the plugin removes it.

Any ideas on how to add thumbnail support back to the plugin? The plugin is Premise by Copyblogger, so I'm surprised why they would remove it.

You can download the plugin here: http://bit.ly/HO9s44

Thanks for your help so far.

Got it. Looks like I just needed to add the 'thumbnail' portion to this line of code:

'supports' => array( 'title', 'editor', 'revisions', 'custom-fields', 'thumbnail' ),

    in premise.php.

    Thanks for your help Brad.
