In default mode Genesis navigation works as it should. Once I introduce Pretty Permalinks (Post Name) the menu item that points at the store returns you to the home page whilst all other menu items work fine. With a 2015 theme, Permalinks works correctly and clicking on the store menu item brings you to the store. I am at a loss as to how to fix this without a redirect plugin which could open another can of worms.

Many thanks in advance for even reading this!!

Many, Many thanks for your post. The whole issue was caused by my settings in WordPress Reading. Do it the correct way and you will have no issues with Permalinks
