When I use the reading settings and select my front page to display a static page, I lose the slider, the features, etc..

Brandon, thanks...
But, using that function I can add pages to the loop, but I only want to show a single page, an specific page in the homepage

Hello Susan,

I am also interested in the answer to jhummel's concern. I have the same issue now. When I make the homepage to show a static page I lose all the features including the slide show. I also want to remove the posts from showing up on the homepage.
