Thanks Dave. I appreciate your solving my mystery - and the advice on what's in the sidebar. I was planning to do some tidying up there, so that is very helpful. Not sure I have the skill to do everything you recommend, but I will certainly check it all out and resolve it in some practical way.

Sorry, I thought people would be able to see that with Firebug or such. But actually the problem is now solved.
I had left the customisation for a week or two and had forgotten that I had customised the home top widget area to incorporate an optin form. Then I had an an error with the functions.php, had replaced that with the default file and thus lost my customisations!

I'm not actually using a slider, Brad. I'm using a customized home-top left + home-top right widget.
The responsiveness on my phone might be just because I have an older phone. I tested it on another Samsung Galaxy, later version and it's fine and had a colleague test it on his iPhone and it was responsive. So I think I might have it solved for now.

I've done that with the setup Sridhar provided, but it throws the site out. I've left a question for him on this.

Then I used coding from the Neat & Plain site http://neatandplain.com/responsive-youtube-or-vimeo-videos-in-genesis
When I then tested the site with a couple of online testing tools, it came up perfectly, no problem with the video, but on my own Samsung Galaxy phone the responsiveness is not there, not just for the video but for the whole site.
Thinking I might give up on the idea of having a video on the home page. If I can't be confident about responsiveness, it kind of defeats the purpose.

How does that work differently from the standard setup of responsive slider + call to action widgets in Executive Pro?
My challenge seems to be getting a video to be responsive. Does your solution cover that?

Thanks I am getting feedback that people are getting distorted views and the nav bar is splitting, someone even made me a video and still i can;t solve the responsive challenge- it is only okay on Chrome it seems http://youtu.be/WuM7k4bGopE?hd=1
Thanks Andrea I am using a 13in macbook, I thought as the theme was responsive it should adjust to any screen?

The sidebar on my front page is showing under the blog posts since I use regenerate thumnbnails plugin I have attached an image

1. yes it is duplictaing I think and the image is the correct size?
2. Unfortunately that then took out my side bar with the regenerate thumbnails- I just did a few not the lot is there a way to reverse this ? I want to have the sidebar widget showing, thanks
