February 22, 2016 at 5:33 pm in reply to: What is the best way to set up images with titles? #179658TomParticipant
Hi Susan,
(code snippets should be pasted like this.)Found the examples on your site: the text links are not clearing the images. In the working examples, you are using HTML breaks
<BR>
to force this. So it's just consistency from group to group, which could be standardized with classes and CSS, or carefully reproduced.

[ Follow me: Twitter ] [ Follow Themes: Twitter ] [ My Favourite Webhost ]February 22, 2016 at 4:39 pm in reply to: Agency Pro – Using homepage featured posts widget in after entry widget #179656TomParticipantYou should find the rest from the home page content css, under classes like .agency-pro-home / .content / .featured-content / .featuredpost etc. Plus some for the .widget-title and widget text, etc.

[ Follow me: Twitter ] [ Follow Themes: Twitter ] [ My Favourite Webhost ]TomParticipantThe bumper is actually designed as an empty div that is used to keep the top 160px of page content visible when the shrinking header is un-shrunk (ie. Centric design has no 'bumper image'). Your adding a background image to the bumper makes two separate images appear when scrolling up and down the page.
I'd suggest:
1. Removing the bumper image.
2. On inner pages:
The additional background image you've added to .page-title repeats along the x-axis (L > R). To prevent this, add.page-title { background-size: cover; }
To prevent the default , home page background image from displaying above your added ,page-title background image, add
body.custom-background.page, body.custom-background.post { background-image: url(''); }
3. On the front page, the widget text covers the faces in the image. You could modify the image and/or move the widget south:
.home-widgets-1 .widget { margin-top: 225px; }
(No need to ask forgiveness to try different methods! I was just thinking that your readers and Google will appreciate lighter weight images. There's probably something 'best' in between.)

Demo.

.bumper { min-height: 160px; background-image: url("https://s3.amazonaws.com/amalyarealtygroup/HomeProAcademy/Site+Pics/HPA-Bumper.png"); }
* poking around, I found your logo is currently 1,680 x 1,121 px and 234.6 KB. It need only be about 20KB at 716px wide.

It will be up to you to customize the styling appropriately.

[ Follow me: Twitter ] [ Follow Themes: Twitter ] [ My Favourite Webhost ]February 21, 2016 at 1:22 pm in reply to: Altitude Pro – Removing the Title underline on a page #179564TomParticipantThe underline is controlled by this CSS in the (stock) child theme stylesheet at line 1497:
.entry-header::after { border-bottom: 1px solid #000; content: ""; display: block; margin: 0 auto 60px; padding-bottom: 30px; width: 25%; }
To remove the underline for all pages:
. page .entry-header::after { border-bottom: none; }
Or, for individual pages, find the page-ID of the page to be adjusted, adding the following to ehe stylesheet below the above code, where xxx is the value of the page ID for each page affected ....
.page-id-xxx .entry-header::after { border-bottom: none; }

[ Follow me: Twitter ] [ Follow Themes: Twitter ] [ My Favourite Webhost ]TomParticipantAt line 752 of your child theme stylesheet, change the top and bottom padding from 10%, or change to reduce the top padding alone.
.site-inner { background-color: #fff; clear: both; margin: 90px auto 0; padding: 10% 40px; max-width: 1280px; }

[ Follow me: Twitter ] [ Follow Themes: Twitter ] [ My Favourite Webhost ]TomParticipantThe description may be moved to the right within #title using:
/* Line 226 */ #description { text-align: right; }
or by adding left margin in this same statement.
The logo cannot be moved left because is inside the #header's restricted width of 1140px:
/* Line 192 */ #header { margin: 0 auto; min-height: 140px; width: 1140px; }

This would require changes to the author pro plugin, which doesn't appear to have filters for this purpose. Try this plugin for sizing your square CD images instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
For "author-pro-image size" try 360x360px and 400x400 for featured images.

Without diving in too deeply, those errors appear to be 404/not found errors for icons/fonts used by Simple Social Icons, Jetpack and Genesis. These won't likely be the cause of your site speed problems. What happens to site speed when you disable Jetpack and Simple Social Icons?
For performance, better that you use performance metrics from sites like GTmetrix.com and webpagetest.org.
The GTmetrix result for your site indicates an opening 3.92 seconds waiting for the first response from your server. WebPageTest.org measures this at 4.08 seconds.
I think you should first explore these issues with your webhost, then pursue other speed assists like cacheing, CDN, JS/CSS concatenation and minification, image optimization, etc.

[ Follow me: Twitter ] [ Follow Themes: Twitter ] [ My Favourite Webhost ]TomParticipantThe error is due to the changes made to functions.php which must be made very carefully. Try retracing your steps, reverting to a backup is necessary. If you continue to have issues, best to follow-up for support from that site.

Good job so far!. For the secondary menu, at line 1351 of the Atmosphere style sheet, delete the background colour property..nav-secondary { margin-top: 0px; width: 100%; text-align: center; /* background-color: rgba(58, 36, 107, 0.05); */ height: 80px; }
