Susan NelsonParticipant
Hi,
I've never used the Prose theme - can you work with the functions.php file? I asked this same type of question the other day and Gary Jones told me this:
"Edit the footer as you would normally - either filter it, or use something like Simple Footer plugin. The [footer_backtotop] shortcode still exists within Genesis - it's just now not used by default."
So, I added this to my functions:
//* Customize the return to top of page text add_filter( 'genesis_footer_output', 'footer_backtotop_text' ); function footer_backtotop_text($backtotop) { $backtotop = '[footer_backtotop href="#nav_menu-2" text="Back to Top"]'; return $backtotop; }
Since the #wrap does not exist in Genesis 2.0, you'll need to find another id to link to. In the code above, I used this:
href="#nav_menu-2"
You'll need to look at your site and figure out an id that's near the top to use.

When I installed GFWA, some of my settings went back to the default. The categories went back to "All" and I just needed to go through and reassign the categories.
🙂
Susan NelsonParticipantThat site (1800sellfast.com) is using the Balance theme: http://my.studiopress.com/themes/balance/ and should be pretty easy to customize. If you don't want to purchase Balance, I would start with the Sample child theme because it's responsive and AgentPress isn't.
And yes, you can add social network icons. There's even an easy plugin to help you do that. http://www.studiopress.com/plugins/simple-social-icons
Susan NelsonParticipantAwesome - glad you figured it out!
Susan NelsonParticipantHi there,
If you want to reactivate the eleven40 theme, I'll be happy to take a look.
July 30, 2013 at 7:50 pm in reply to: Agent Press – Change from 4 item footer to three column footer? #53313Susan NelsonParticipantHello!
Open functions.php and starting at line 47, you'll find this:
/** Add support for 4 footer widgets */ add_theme_support( 'genesis-footer-widgets', 4 );
Change the 4 to 3.
Susan NelsonParticipantHi there,
Open functions.php and starting at line 30, remove this section:
/** Reposition the primary navigation */ remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav' ); add_action( 'genesis_before_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );
Susan NelsonParticipantThanks so much, Nick. I didn't realize that about the pagination. I thought I had to have that enabled if I wanted the navigation at the bottom. I disabled it and now it works perfectly. Thanks again!
Susan NelsonParticipantThanks, Anita. Appreciate it!
Susan NelsonParticipantOh yes, I forgot to mention that! That's what I did. I added a CSS class to the home link so I could add the background and adjust the positioning easily.
Susan NelsonParticipantI'm working on something like this now and the way I've made it work is to add a Home link to the menu, place it in the middle of the list of links, and then give it a background (the logo). Does that make sense?
Susan NelsonParticipantHi John,
In addition to changing the height in the CSS, you'll need to change it in the functions.php file as well. Around line 25, you'll find this:
/** Add support for custom header */ add_theme_support( 'genesis-custom-header', array( 'width' => 960, 'height' => 100 ) );
Just change the value for the height.
Susan NelsonParticipantYou can open home.php and duplicate the existing call to action widget area. Then make sure you register the new widget area in functions.php and add it to the style.css.
Susan NelsonParticipantHi Craig,
If you are using Pages instead of Posts, you'll need to add the Page ID to the field below that drop down. Here's one way to locate the ID if you're unfamiliar: http://www.techtrot.com/wordpress-page-id/. And here's a quick overview on how to use the slider: http://rankingedge.com/genesis-responsive-slider-studio-press/.
Susan NelsonParticipantHi Tonje,
Do you mean that you'd like to add a new link to the menu but have it look different from the rest of the links? If so, you can add your button image as a background to the link and it should stay responsive.
1. Go to Appearance > Menus > and make sure you check CSS Classes in the Screen Options. If you're not familiar with the screen options, here's a good overview: http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/
2. Go to your menu and add the new link and add a class to it.
3. In your style.css, add the new class and apply the background to it to make it look like your button.
That should be it. You may need to adjust padding/margins depending upon your background image and how everything lines up.
July 5, 2013 at 6:09 pm in reply to: How would you code a ribbon on the ends of the Primary Nav? #49443Susan NelsonParticipantThanks, Dorian. 🙂 Yeah, that's pretty much what I ended up doing. I wanted to see if I could make it with 3 separate images, but in the end, 1 image makes more sense.
Susan NelsonParticipantYou're welcome. Glad you got it working!
Susan NelsonParticipantHi Krista,
Give it another try. I just did it on your site using Firebug and it works perfectly.
Susan NelsonParticipantI've always had success with the method described here: http://appfinite.com/topic/how-do-i-center-the-entire-primary-navigation-menu/.
So, add text-align: center; to #nav .wrap. Then change #nav li to have float: none; and add display: inline-block.
Susan NelsonParticipantNo problem!
