Wow! Thank you. If I were the person maintaining this site your suggestion would make sense. But the person who will ultimately be responsible for the site, should any changes be needed, is not code savvy. I will keep your suggestion in my notes if things change and we can implement this way. Thank you!
SoFlaDesignerMemberOK. Thanks. I resolved it by zipping them up after the download. I'm not sure I want all downloads zipped. So this is working for now. Thanks for your response.
SoFlaDesignerMemberFigured it out. When I zipped the download it contained a version number in the name which Modern Blogger Pro did not recognize. I deleted Genesis and reinstalled it and Modern Blogger Pro is now active.
SoFlaDesignerMemberHey, developers are not lazy; just efficient 🙂 Thanks again for your help!

SoFlaDesignerMemberThanks again for your response. This is very helpful.
One question: You mention that you usually use a maintenance mode plugin. Which plugin have you used?
Thanks so much!
SoFlaDesignerMemberWow! You just happened to zero in on the company I'm using in your list. Thank you! I'll check out Big Scoots Hosting.
SoFlaDesignerMemberThank you Andrea and Rob for your responses. I am building a site for my sister's aromatherapy business. We don't have a link yet, but she chose the Modern Blogger Pro as the theme she likes best. Based on your recommendation, Rob, she's going to take a look at Modern Portfolio as well. Thanks again for your responses.
SoFlaDesignerMemberThanks again for your feedback. I'll wait and see when I meet with my client if she still has an interest and let you know. I appreciate the details you provided.
SoFlaDesignerMemberThank you, Andrea, for your quick response. My concern is that it may have been retired because it is not supported with the new version of Genesis. Your thoughts?
Thank you,
CarolSoFlaDesignerMemberThank you so much for your response!
SoFlaDesignerMemberThank you Brad. I'm not a PHP developer but I'll give it a try. Thank you so much!
I took a look at the code in the functions.php file as you suggested. But for the Freelance theme, there is no graphic in the header. So maybe that's why I've had so many weird problems like somehow it attempted to insert a grossly huge file.
I am wondering if there is a basic document that you know of that is a good guide for adapting a child theme. I seem to be unable to find where in the code some of the changes I'd like to make exist. For example, your suggestion to look into the function file allowed me to see some actions that I was not aware.
Is there something online (or in print) that is a good guide for finding the basic areas of code people are likely to want to modify?
Thank you again.
SoFlaDesignerMemberSo what did you do to fix the problem? I'm curious. Thanks
SoFlaDesignerMemberThank you for this tip about Amped and Mocha. I appreciate it! Carol
SoFlaDesignerMemberThanks for sharing that you used Mocha! I just looked at the sites in the gallery that used it and I think I can work with that. I will be designing a PSD to share with the client to help her decide design features. I'll let you know if customization is necessary. Thanks, Dave, for your feedback.

SoFlaDesignerMemberThank you both for your responses. I am new to Genesis. It's a little different design process when the basic code has already been done. I am expecting to have to customize the theme for the female jazz singer that I'm creating the site for.
So David, when you create the custom theme, are you planning to base it on an existing theme in Genesis? I appreciate your feedback.
Thank you both!
