Thanks Anne! I'll give it a try and also check out Firebug 🙂
I have to run out for a bit but will do this when I get back
I'll let you know how it goes and I'm sure I'll have more questions! Ahhh!!
Thanks again!

snatal8MemberHi Anne,
Thanks for your help. I am making some of the changes you suggested but I can't find the code for the title and bar that you mentioned here:
.page-id-115 .entry-header::after {
border-bottom: 1px solid #000;
}Where do I find that?
I don't see it in style.css
Thanks for being so patient with me! 🙂
Stacey
snatal8MemberThanks Christoph. That stinks! It would be great to be able to toggle between the 2 without having to recreate everything.
Oh Well! 🙂
snatal8MemberThanks Anne and Andrea - I'll give them all a try! 🙂 Thanks so much for answering so quickly!
I agree that the theme has some good features for the front page. I was using it originally then got into some issues with spacing, etc so now I'm using visual composer and finding it easier.
Thanks!

snatal8MemberHi Jamie - thanks - I do still need some help.
I would like the menu/header area to stay put as in the above example and not get smaller when scrolling.
I would also like to make the header area (where the logo is) larger so the logo can be larger.
Any help would be appreciated!
This is the site in progress:

Thanks!
snatal8MemberThanks Victor! I'll check it out.

snatal8MemberHi Victor,
I'm not sure that we're looking at the same thing. The thing I mean is the slider that has 3 reviews going at a time and it has yellow stars under it. It actually is text because I can select it. I purposely don't want to make it an image on the site I'm working on for reasons you mentioned above. I saw this but wasn't sure how it was done.
Here's the link again if you want to take a second look...
It's about the 5th section down the page - a slider next to a girl's face where it says Read What Our Patients Are Saying
Thanks!
snatal8MemberForget it - I figured it out!! Thanks anyway!
snatal8MemberYes I did. That wasn't the problem. The problem is I don't really know what to do.
I think I got this part correct:
genesis_register_sidebar( array(
‘id’ => ‘ABC-widget’,
‘name’ => __( ‘ABC-widget’, ‘altitude’ ),
‘description’ => __( ‘New widget before header’, ‘altitude’ ),
) );but then I screwed up on the conditional part. I just wasn't sure what to do. I'm trying to figure things out as I go. I I want the new widget to appear on all pages.
snatal8MemberI tried that initially last night and that's what got me in trouble with the functions.php file. 🙂 It crashed!
So before I make the changes, is this what I should do? I want a new widget area before the header area. Let's just call it ABC-widget for now. I'm using Altitude Pro. I get stuck on the second part - the conditional part. I wan tit to appear on ALL pages so do I need a condition? If not, where do I end the code? ( I only modified part of it because I wasn't sure what to do) Thanks!!
genesis_register_sidebar( array(
'id' => 'ABC-widget',
'name' => __( 'ABC-widget', 'altitude' ),
'description' => __( 'New widget before header', 'altitude' ),
) );add_action( 'genesis_before_header', 'ABC-widget' );
function ABC-widget() {
if ( is_front_page() && is_active_sidebar('new-widget') ) {
genesis_widget_area( 'new-widget', array(
'before' => '<div class="new-widget widget-area">',
'after' => '</div>',
) );}
}
snatal8MemberSorry to ask such basic questions but what do I use to edit this file? If I open it in Notepad I don't see the line numbers - it's just all on 2 lines.
Thanks again!
snatal8MemberThanks Christoph but that didn't seem to work.
This is the site I'm working on:
http://www.staceynatal.com/PutnamTemp/
When you scroll, the header area shrinks but if you look at this site, it doesn't change:
http://www.collegediscountcards.com/
I want it like the other site. Any ideas? Thanks!
snatal8MemberThanks for looking into it for me. I'm doing this for a client and they keep looking at other orthos sites saying "I want this, I want that" Frustrating!
Can I ask another question if you don't mind? So are the heights of each frontpage widget set to a certain height? It seems like some are expandable and other have a fixed height. Can I change that?
snatal8MemberHow do you see the line number in the code as you mentioned here where you say line 317?
snatal8MemberThe gradients thing is challenging me!1 I commented it all out but I still need something there
Can you tell me how I can get this effect where the gradient is only appearing as a strip on the bottom? See where it says Welcome to kimball... I'd like to do something like that. Thanks!
snatal8MemberHi Victory - yes I know about the background image. My client sent over a few images and it's just a quick place holder.
My real issue is with the gradient. Can I lighten it and if so how or can I delete it altogether and if so how? DO I just delete all of the code in the img src section relating to gradient? Thanks for your help!
snatal8MemberI think this is the part I need to change - the gradient: But I'm not sure how to do it.
/* Front Page
--------------------------------------------- */.image-section,
.solid-section {
clear: both;
text-align: center;
width: 100%;
}.image-section {
background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, rgba(0,0,0,0.2) 0%, rgba(0,0,0,0.5) 30%, rgba(0,0,0,0.8) 80%, rgba(0,0,0,0.9) 100%);
background: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0%,rgba(0,0,0,0.2)), color-stop(30%,rgba(0,0,0,0.5)), color-stop(80%,rgba(0,0,0,0.8)), color-stop(100%,rgba(0,0,0,0.9)));
background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, rgba(0,0,0,0.2) 0%,rgba(0,0,0,0.5) 30%,rgba(0,0,0,0.8) 80%,rgba(0,0,0,0.9) 100%);
background: -o-linear-gradient(top, rgba(0,0,0,0.2) 0%,rgba(0,0,0,0.5) 30%,rgba(0,0,0,0.8) 80%,rgba(0,0,0,0.9) 100%);
background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, rgba(0,0,0,0.2) 0%,rgba(0,0,0,0.5) 30%,rgba(0,0,0,0.8) 80%,rgba(0,0,0,0.9) 100%);
background: linear-gradient(to bottom, rgba(0,0,0,0.2) 0%,rgba(0,0,0,0.5) 30%,rgba(0,0,0,0.8) 80%,rgba(0,0,0,0.9) 100%);
filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient( startColorstr='#33000000', endColorstr='#e6000000',GradientType=0 );snatal8Memberhttp://www.staceynatal.com/PutnamTemp/
It looks like a background color (dark grey) is between the background image and the text
snatal8MemberThanks! Another question for you and thank you for being so helpful!!
This is the site he likes and wants to use as inspiration:
Is there a studiopress theme that is similar to this one?
Also, any suggestions on what to charge for designing a site like this?
Thanks so much!
