I got it to work. I had to disable a plugin called AutoOptimize. Strangely, it's been working fine with this plugin activated until I upgraded Genesis. So, I don't know.
slobizmanMemberAlso, is there any problem with rolling back, downgrading, Genesis to the previous version (I see I can download 2.3.1, and did)? How would I do this? Is it just file changes or where there any database changes? In other words, can I just overwrite the Genesis theme folder contents with the download of 2.3.1 files?
April 20, 2016 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Education Theme: How to put link in Header to Blog Page? #184015slobizmanMemberDuh! I should have known that one. Thanks.
I have fewer than the setting of 10 posts per page. When it hits 11, will there be pagination built in?

March 16, 2015 at 9:32 am in reply to: Activated theme on existing site, should I regenerate image sizes? #144626slobizmanMemberIf I may, one other question, so I make sure I start out right with this theme: The Settings/Media size for the Large size is 1024x1024. Is that the right size for this theme? Am I assuming correctly that if I wish to insert an image to fit full-width in a post or page, I would select the Large size and that WordPress will still display it to fit within the column?
(Previously, in my other theme, I've pre-upload sized the in-post full-width images to the exact width of the column (if the column was 600px I would resize the image to 600px). But now that I think about it, that's kind of dumb in case I ever change the post/page column width to larger than my image.)

slobizmanMemberAHA! Just about every article on how to do this is no longer valid I see, according to this Genesis 2.0 hooks page.
The new removal statement is this:
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'genesis_post_info', 12 );
Now I still have an issue, and I think it has to be something with the priority. I only want the date to show up on posts pages, so I have this code:
if ( !is_single() ) { remove_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'genesis_post_info', 12 ); }
But I can't get the priority right. With "12" which is what Studiopress chose in their example at the link above, it removes the post info on everything, including my single posts. If I make it "1" or a "99" I get post info everything, including the home page.
Can someone enlighten me on how to get the priority correct?
January 30, 2015 at 5:17 pm in reply to: Any Attitude or Parallax sites with the blog for home page? #139093slobizmanMemberThanks Carlo. So, when I switch formats, if I make the page let's say "blog" the Post Page in Settings > Reading, it won't change my permalinks to incorporate "/blog/" in them right? In other words, if my post is usually mysite.com/here-is-my-post, and I make my blog page mysite.com/blog, my post URL won't change to mysite.com/blog/here-is-my-post, right?
slobizmanMemberYes thank you. I was thinking to do that, but wasn't sure. What I am realizing is the both the width of the featured image for the teasers on the home page and for the featured image for a single post are sized for sites that set Eleven40 Pro to use two sidebars. Using one sidebar creates a wider teaser area, requiring a wider image, but it's still using that featured image size that was set for the narrower one when two sidebars are specified.
slobizmanMemberRegarding Question #2, I said, "On the post excerpts that follow the initial post, my thumbnails are only 270px wide (270 x 100), unlike John’s blog which shows 372?—132 images."
You pointed me to an article about the Genesis Featured Posts Widget. I'm not following on that. Are you maybe using a static home page and placing the widget on it? Otherwise not sure how to incorporate that into the home page I have that is set as the default for Eleven40, which is "Your Posts."
Note: I'm confused as to why Genesis doesn't have a thumbnail that is the proper width to fit into the 2-across columns they set to show on the home page, after the first post.
slobizmanMemberThanks John! I'll go check out everything you replied with.
slobizmanMemberSorry, I'm kind of hijacking this thread, but it is concerning the featured image John was discussing. I had just installed Eleven40Pro too (my first experience with this theme), and am basically trying to accomplish almost exactly what John has done with his great looking blog. Here are my issues, and I'm probably just not understanding how to set the theme up properly.
1. How do I get the Featured Image to show up on the top post of the home page.
2. On the post excerpts that follow the initial post, my thumbnails are only 270px wide (270 x 100), unlike John's blog which shows 372x132 images.
3. Also love how the single posts his featured images go between the header and the footer, as wide as the page. How is that done?
Maybe these are custom changes and not part of the theme settings. If so, if John is reading this and would not mind sharing...would be much appreciated.
Note: I have the site set up in "Reading" options to show "Your latest posts" as the set up instructions suggest.

But that didn't work.
I would have put the website link in, but I don't want to have it not showing bullets, so I don't leave it up that way.
slobizmanMember*bump" See last question please. Thanks.
slobizmanMemberI read on a blog somewhere that Genesis never does update a child theme without renaming it. For example, and update to Education would be Education Pro. Is that right, meaning I could safely update the Education files?
slobizmanMemberDoes Genesis ever update child themes, where a new version would overwrite the CSS file I've modified?
November 15, 2013 at 12:41 pm in reply to: Do I edit a purchased child theme's files, or edit a child of that child theme? #73212slobizmanMemberThere seems to still be no clear answer. I'll simplify the questions:
1. On a Studiopress child theme I've purchased, if I make my changes to the child theme's stylesheet and functions.php file (as I believe is the promoted method of making changes), will those be overwritten on an upgrade of the said child theme (not a genesis parent theme upgrade, I understand that).
2. If the answer to #1 is yes, how to people handle this? Do they comment all the changes (and there can be alot) they have made, and then prior to a child theme upgrade, do they reapply all the changes to the new stylesheet and functions.php and hope they got them all?
3. If a grandchild theme is possible (and I've read on the web both it is and that it isn't with Genesis), then can someone give me a quickie set of steps to do this, from someone who has actually done it?
I'd think this would be addressed someone on the site, but I don't see anything.
