Ok, either way, the conditionals aren't working regardless of plugin. So I'm wondering what went wrong there.
sethbahookeyMemberP.S. - I just put this in the site so you can see what I mean about it being on every page...
thecompressioncloset.com
if( !is_page('contact-us') || !is_page('about-us') ) { add_action('genesis_entry_footer', 'wpmem_inc_sidebar'); }
sethbahookeyMemberThanks for the response! Could you provide an example please? This is how I am understanding you...
add_action(‘genesis_entry_footer’, ‘hello_world’); function hello_world() { if( is_page() ) { echo “hello world”; } }
The thing is I want to either add or remove an action hook based on whether I'm on a certain section of my site.
So something like:
if( !is_page('contact-us') || !is_page('about-us') ) { add_action('genesis_entry_footer', 'wpmem_inc_sidebar'); }
wpmem_inc_sidebar is what I'm actually trying to insert into the site. The challenge is that it is not recognizing those conditionals :/
February 27, 2015 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Agency Pro Remove Native Header or…need current date #142596sethbahookeyMemberReally? I can't even get access on how to remove the header from the agency pro theme?
Can someone please post how to remove the header from agency pro?
Thanks.
sethbahookeyMemberGreat! Thanks Victor, this seems like a quick fix to my problem!
Any idea on how to do it from scratch though? I really would like to learn to do this by creating a script or function. Maybe I could do this through a custom template page? Either way, if someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!
Thanks,
SethDecember 15, 2014 at 11:28 am in reply to: Creating Custom Menu for Specific Custom Template #134596sethbahookeyMemberHmm I am not. I simply would like to get my custom navigation menu working when I go to a page that uses a custom template.
Is there a simple hook for that or should I use something like...
if ( is_page_template( 'therapist') ) {
wp_nav_menu(array('menu' => 'therapist'));
} else {
wp_nav_menu(array('theme_location' => 'primary'));sethbahookeyMemberHmm marybaum, now that I have tried to accomplish this goal you had me set out to do... I've come to realize I have no idea what I'm doing at all haha.
How would I go about creating a category and all these posts? Rather, would these be custom page templates that you are having me create, or simply going into WP backend and creating a category then making two posts and associating them with that category?
Thanks
sethbahookeyMemberThat is a very insightful post, thank you so much for taking the time to write that out! I will definitely try and figure out how to make what you said work.
I think this is my disconnect with WP in general. I'm lost when it comes to making custom pages that can be edited via the WP admin. I'm still in the mindset of making static pages for this and that.
So anytime I want to do something custom, I should try and turn it into a post?
sethbahookeyMemberThanks so much WisdmLabs!
Are there any guides out there on how to create a login screen? That is essentially what I am trying to do; however, all I can find for front-page is how to customize blog posts :/
sethbahookeyMemberI am using the Genesis Sample Theme
This is what the News Extender format looks like...
This is what it is looking like with custom side bar...
Any ideas on how to help? Can't send link as it is on a local hard drive.
Thanks
sethbahookeyMemberIs there any tutorial out there that explains how to do this from the PHP files? Although I sure it's super simple with the plugin you listed. I'd like to learn how to do this from scratch. I found a tutorial on this from 4 years ago. I feel like there has got to be a more current version?
sethbahookeyMemberThat's awesome! Thanks genwrock. Would be able to support the frontpage idea I have? Basically I'm thinking like some kind of picture of a doctor and patient and on the side of the photo with the doctor having a button to click in to go to that part of the site and then the same thing for the patient side as well. I'd imagine I'd have to customize it a bit huh? 🙂
sethbahookeyMemberI'd like to add to this as well. I just purchased my copy of Genesis today and it's great so far! Challenge I'm having is that I upload the Genesis theme in my WP. Then I create a folder for my child theme, copy over the whole CSS file (btw gr8_eight - I was told that's the best way to do it so that if the core updates you won't lose any of your edits where you might if you @import), and then I make my changes to the top of the file with Template name. When I go and visit the site. All the formatting is gone.
The sidebar appears right underneath the main content area and so on. What gives? It's the exact same CSS file so why is it changing styles like that? Thanks!
