July 24, 2013 at 1:29 pm in reply to: Can StudioPress Themes allow me to do what I do with iThemes Builder? #52297RiavonMemberYou could take a look at the Dynamik and Genesis Extender plugins here http://cobaltapps.com/
Their Dynamik Website Builder seems like it would be great for you!

RiavonMemberThanks so much for your help. It's especially appreciated knowing that you're sleep deprived! I plan to implement this later today, and when I do I will be sure to follow up to this post and let you know how it works out. 🙂

RiavonMemberIt looks like it's working fine, now. You were able to get this resolved?

RiavonMemberHa, I hear ya on that. I'm completely brain-dead until I get a pot of coffee in me!
Nice looking site, btw!
Have a great day... 🙂

RiavonMemberTwo of the images are only 420px high so trying to proportionately fit them into the slideshow causes them to not take up all the vertical space. Try resizing those image so that they are proportionately correct to fit from 1600px wide down to your slideshow width of 1120px and still take up the 420px of vertical height. It appears that one of your images is proportionately correct (the one that is 600px high) so that's why it fills the slideshow space from top to bottom and the others don't.
I hope that makes sense!
Just try resizing and reloading those two images.

RiavonMemberOk. Without being able to see the setup you have in your Dashboard that was just a guess on my part, as there are different ways to generate that content. I see you're using the out of the box setup of Eleven40 which uses the Genesis grid to generate those content columns where your post teasers appear on your home page. I believe it will require some slight code modification to the Genesis grid loop to change
'grid_image_class'Â Â Â Â Â Â => 'alignnone',
to
'grid_image_class'Â Â Â Â Â Â => 'alignleft',
I'll try to research this to see if there is an easy way to explain to you how to do it, OR (hopefully) one of the Genesis coding gurus can help us.
This plugin may be of use for this situation, as well: Genesis Grid Loop

RiavonMemberIf you're using the Genesis Featured Widget Amplified widget to generate the teasers, configure your settings for the image in the widget settings under the "Show Featured Image" section you see a drop down menu for sizes and a drop down menu for alignment. Select your image size and set the alignment to "Left".

April 4, 2013 at 1:51 pm in reply to: Can't get site title area to move above left header widget area #33166RiavonMemberFor those who want to see how I made this work, here is my version of the code Brian gave me in my functions.php:
remove_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_do_header' ); add_action( 'genesis_header', 'riagen_custom_do_header' ); add_action('genesis_header', 'header_left_widget_area'); function header_left_widget_area() { echo ' <div class="left-widget-area">'; dynamic_sidebar('Header Left'); echo '</div> <!-- end .left-widget-area -->'; } function riagen_custom_do_header() { echo ' <div id="title-area">'; do_action( 'genesis_site_title' ); do_action( 'genesis_site_description' ); echo '</div> <!-- end #title-area -->'; if ( is_active_sidebar( 'Header Left') ) { echo ' <div class="left-widget-area">'; dynamic_sidebar('Header Left'); echo '</div> <!-- end .left-widget-area -->'; } if ( is_active_sidebar( 'header-right' ) || has_action( 'genesis_header_right' ) ) { echo ' <div class="widget-area">'; do_action( 'genesis_header_right' ); add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_args', 'genesis_header_menu_args' ); dynamic_sidebar( 'header-right' ); remove_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_args', 'genesis_header_menu_args' ); echo '</div> <!-- end .widget-area -->'; } }
Then I just adjusted my previous CSS so that the title area div wasn't floated left against the floated left left widget area
.header-image #title-area, .header-image #title, .header-image #title a { display: inline-block; float: none; }
and then
#header .widget-area { float: right; text-align: right;}
with each of these set to about 30% wide.

April 4, 2013 at 1:29 pm in reply to: Can't get site title area to move above left header widget area #33158RiavonMemberThanks to both Ozzy and to Brian Bourn for your responses. Brian, your code worked! Well.. with a few minor adjustments as well as a few minor changes to the CSS. But it did just what I needed it to do. The header flows nicely now on smaller screens, with the title area (logo/description) staying at the top. You're a lifesaver. Thanks again. I'll post a link to the site when it goes live (soon!)

April 4, 2013 at 11:11 am in reply to: Can't get site title area to move above left header widget area #33113RiavonMemberThanks so much guys. I think I'm almost there with some tweaks to Brian's code. I've got to go out for a meeting right now but will work on this when I get back and let you know. Thanks again so much!

April 4, 2013 at 10:48 am in reply to: Can't get site title area to move above left header widget area #33107RiavonMemberHi Brian, thanks .. that looks awesome but when I tried your code, it didn't work. I wonder if I'm missing something? What happens is when I use your code, the left widget area disappears from the header entirely. As in, it's not in the header code at all. When I use your code along with:
add_action('genesis_header', 'header_left_widget_area', 5); function header_left_widget_area() { echo ' <div class="left-widget-area">'; dynamic_sidebar('Header Left'); echo '</div> <!-- end .widget_area -->'; }
as well, then the left widget shows up in the code and is visible, and everything looks ok, but by ok it looks and works the same as always, with the left widget appearing before the site title area, then the (right) widget-area below that.
(PS: Where am I to add the right widget code you show me in the first part of your post above?)

April 4, 2013 at 10:34 am in reply to: Can't get site title area to move above left header widget area #33103RiavonMemberHi Ozzy, sure thing:
genesis_register_sidebar(array( 'name'=>'Header Left', 'description' => 'This is the Header Left Widget Area.', 'before_title'=>'<h4 class="widgettitle">','after_title'=>'</h4>', 'before_widget' => '<div id="header" class="leftwidget-area">', 'after_widget' => '</div>' ));
Twitter: @riavonentprises
RiavonMemberHooray! Glad it worked for you. Like you, I prefer a full-width navigation bar, so I do that customization to almost every site I build. 🙂

RiavonMemberHi Ronald, I see that in my hurry to post, I didn't get that closing bracket included in my copy/paste - apologies. Good catch. 🙂
I just checked your site again, and I do not see (using Firebug) that you've added #nav to your stylesheet. Did you add it then remove it?
#nav { background: url(images/gray-texture.jpg) repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; border-bottom: 1px solid #DDDDDD; border-top: 1px solid #DDDDDD;Â }
Twitter: @riavonentprises
RiavonMemberYou can add it anywhere you want to in your child theme (Balance) stylesheet style.css. Do you know how to access your stylesheet?
Twitter: @riavonentprises
RiavonMemberYou can try editing your theme's stylesheet (style.css) by adding
#home-top .featuredpost .post,
#home-top .featuredpage .page {
display:inline;
}
Twitter: @riavonentprises
RiavonMemberFind this in your theme's stylesheet
.menu-primary, .menu-secondary {
background: url("images/gray-texture.jpg") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
border-bottom: 1px solid #DDDDDD;
border-top: 1px solid #DDDDDD;
}And change it to:
.menu-primary, .menu-secondary {
background: transparent none;
border:none;
}Then just apply the styles to the 100% width div block that holds that menu by adding this to your stylesheet:
#nav {
background: url(images/gray-texture.jpg) repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
border-bottom: 1px solid #DDDDDD;
border-top: 1px solid #DDDDDD;
