MemberAlso, I want to have a background image but the post should not be shown on top of it. The post should be shown on a plain white background. Like http://www.wpbeginner.com/
They have a greyish background yet the posts are shown on a white background.

MemberIt worked for me. Thanks Brad!
@jengnoeloe: I think you have not selected the theme layout with 2 sidebars after you registered the layouts in the function.php. You can do that from the Genesis theme settings page.

MemberYou can try the WP-Paginate plugin or you can modify the CSS of your Child Theme like I did with mine.

MemberDon't worry. You don't need a backup. This happens when you delete the parent theme. You won't even be able to login to WordPress the normal way. I had the same thing happen to my blog once.
All you have to do is:
1. Login to your WordPress account through FTP (you would get the details from your service provider)
2. Delete the Genesis and the child theme folder entirely (you might need to search for it a bit to locate them)
3. Log out of FTP and try login to WordPress the normal way (through your browser)
4. You would only have one theme now, the WordPress default them
5. Intall Genesis once again and you would be good to go!

MemberI can tell you a thousand good reasons why you should use Genesis, but I think 8 would be more than enough.
I too was a bit skeptical when I chose Genesis. I was new to WordPress and knew nothing about PHP coding at all. I don't regret my decision at all! Very honestly, with Genesis you wouldn't need to touch the code or the SEO at all, unless ofcourse you want to go for some high-end mod. And now that you have chosen Genesis, you would know about it all by yourself.
Happy blogging!

MemberIt worked! Thanks so much. Although I didn't like Verdana much. I think Lora is much better looking than Verdana.

MemberAnd one strange thing I noticed, initially I tried to blend my ads but it didn't work. Now that I have set the blue color in them, they seem to generate more revenue!

MemberPlease don't misunderstand me. Your suggestion was most welcome! really appreciate it. You think I should remove 2 ad units. Which ones do you think I should remove?

MemberThat's a bit strange coming from a mod! Google does allow 3 ads per page, but those are content ads. In addition to 3 content ads, it also allows 3 links units and 2 search boxes. Here goes:
"Google link unit limit per page
You may place up to three link units on a page, in addition to the three standard ad units, and two search boxes." - Source

MemberAnd what is the best way to change the font style in Genesis? Should I use a plugin or should I directly modify the CSS file?

MemberYes it is. Got it working after I set the number of posts per page to 5.

MemberHi Andrea,
How do I setup my Balance theme posts to be like Brian's? If you see, the home page of the blog only contains post excerpts but not the pictures inside the post, even though the picture is well inside the post excerpt. What I want to do for my website is that on the home page the posts would have a thumbnail (not necessarily the one on the post) and a little excerpt (which may or may not be a part of the post).
I know this might actually sound lame, I am quite new on WordPress. Any help would be highly appreciated.
