MemberOther than the fact that you mentioned the "Results" page, but you linked us to the "Schedule" page, I don't see anything wrong.

MemberI'll second what @Christoph has said. As long as you don't add in too many crazy (and possibly unworthy) plugins, and don't get carried away with scripts, and as long as you use graphics in a sensible way (properly optimized and not too many per page), any StudioPress Pro theme will be speedy and mobile-responsive.
And since, according to most people who would know, StudioPress themes (and the Genesis framework) have very clean code, that should make them just a bit faster than most other themes out there.

MemberI'm not much for the technical stuff, so I can't suggest anything else, but I'm sure someone will come along and figure it out.
Meanwhile, I like your site...it looks interesting. I'm a writer and an editor, so I'm going to check out some of your stuff when I get some time.

MemberHere's what I can tell you:
I just installed WhitespacePro on one of my test sites, and made sure my settings were the same as what you described above, and I see comment boxes on all three posts on my test site...just as would be expected.
Have you looked at your plugins, and tried turning off some of those to see if they're causing the problem?
I'll leave the WhiteSpacePro theme on my test site for awhile so you can see it with the comments if you're interested..if that might help:

MemberObviously you really like the "earnlearnandburn" and the "earnlearnburn" things...and I don't see any reason to abandon that.
I definitely think "earnlearnburn" is better than the version with the "and"...
You said you're worried about how to write it while you're writing or talking about it...but really...what's wrong with just writing it like these examples?::
"We think that you'll find exactly what you're looking for at EarnLearnBurn...it's the greatest system ever!"
"Come over and check us out at EarnLearnBurn, and see what it's all about."
I think has a ring to it...and when you write it, if you capitalize as I've shown here, it looks good and definitely sounds good.
I vote to keep it.

MemberJust wondering...just a guess...if you're looking at one of your posts in edit mode, if you scroll way down below the window where you enter your text, might there be any kind of setting there that might control whether or not comments are allowed?

MemberWow...that *is* weird. No, I don't think it's your browser...although I suppose that's possible, but not likely since I've looked at your site in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (all Macintosh versions), and it always looks the same to me.
I wonder...are you running some kind of caching plugin that's keeping you from seeing it correctly?
Or...how about this? Have you tried signing out of your site...so you're not logged in...and then totally clear out your browser (browser cache, etc.) and then (while still signed out) take another look...force your browser to reload the page, etc.? And see how it looks after you do that? Or can you get someone else you know to look at it and see how it looks for them?
Meanwhile, a friend of mine who is a total expert...I'm going to ask him (if I can get a hold of him) to take a look at your problem here.

July 17, 2015 at 10:42 pm in reply to: How do I enlarge photos that are in my primary sidebar? #159700MoodyRiviera
MemberThe subject of your post refers to enlarging the photos in your sidebar. OK. So if I understand correctly, you're asking about increasing the size of the photos such as the "dog" photo under the "ANIMALS" text and the "chocolate" photo under the "RECIPES" text. Right?
If that's the case, and if what you want is to increase the size of those photos to more closely fill the amount of space allowed (the white rectangle that's "holding" those images, you're going to have to create your images to a larger size.
For example: The width of that sidebar looks like about 350 pixels, but the width of the dog photo is only 150 pixels. So it would seem that you would have to create the dog image at a size closer to 350 pixels...using Photoshop or some other image-editing program.
Maybe I'm totally missing your point.

MemberHi Toki,
I'm sorry if this is going to make you feel even more frustrated, but I still don't see the problem. You say that you want to have the "content, primary sidebar" look.
OK.
So I looked at the "backpacks" site, and that's exactly what I see. I mean you *do* have the content, primary sidebar" look.
I'll put a screenshot at the bottom of this post...a screenshot I made of the home page of your site...and I've made some annotations to show you what I mean. I've tried to point out that the content area *is* on the left side of the page, and the sidebar *is* on the right side of the page...which is what is indicated by the "content, primary sidebar" setting.
Let me know what part of this I'm not understanding.

MemberThanks @coralseait.
I'm not a developer (and never will be)...I'm just a designer who likes to use WordPress to put web sites together...so of course most of what you said goes right over my head, but I'll take your word for it...I'm sure you know what you're talking about.
I still wish they would fix some of the annoyances before getting carried away with all this other stuff.

MemberSorry...because the links were incomplete they didn't show up as links here, so I didn't notice them...my bad. (I've always wanted to say "My bad" in real life...this is my big chance. Ha ha ha.)
Maybe this problem is actually a problem of semantics. Here's what I mean:
1. For the TokiTover site, you seem to be saying that the sidebar is on the left, but you want it on the right. But I don't see any sidebar at all on this site. What I see is a series of blog posts going down the right side of the page, with blank space on the left. There is no sidebar that I can see.
2. For the Best Backpacks site, you seem to be saying that the sidebar is on the left, but you want it on the right. I have to tell you that the sidebar *is* on the right side, and the content *is* on the left side. Maybe there's some confusion about the meaning of the term "sidebar." If you look at the right side of the page, you'll see the "Search" area and the list of "Pack Types"...that area is your sidebar. The other text on the page, with the headline, the graphic and all the text starting with, "Honestly, you would probably be happy..." is the content area.
I hope this helps.

MemberIt would help if you gave us a link to your site, but from what you're saying, everything is working exactly as it should be.
I mean...you say you're choosing the "content, primary sidebar" option and that the sidebar stays on the right...ummmm...that's exactly as it should be:
Content and then sidebar on the right side of the page. That's what "content, primary sidebar" means.

MemberFirst, comparing anything on StudioPress with anything on ThemeForest is irrelevant, considering all the well-known problems with many of the themes you would find on ThemeForest.
And just because a theme developer *says* they've tested their theme on all these different browsers doesn't necessarily mean that they've really *done* that.
And if they did actually run all those tests, how far into it did they go with their testing? Did they really test every aspect of the theme with all those browsers.
And of course once you start adding plugins or any customizations, all bets are off regardless of which site you're using.
I'm totally OK with whatever way StudioPress mentions browser compatibility, because I know that StudioPress mostly does things right...they're very thorough...which is more than I can say for lots of other theme developers.
If you're very concerned with the problem of browser compatibility, when you find a theme you're interested in, search around the Internet for some sites that are actually using that theme, and then run the compatibility tests yourself on those sites...that should tell you what you want to know.

MemberHello,
If you want to get your blog going in a much easier way, go to WordPress.com (note... the dot com)...and there you will be able to set up your blog much easier and for a lot less money...and they have lots of themes you can use at no cost (and some you can pay for)...and then after you get your blog going and feel comfortable using it, you can always get your domain name and either get that mapped to your WordPress.com blog (for a small fee) or you could even move to a totally self-hosted blog.
If you don't have much experience with this stuff, and if you don't plan to try to become a web-site designer, wordpress.COM is definitely the way to go...and if you keep it simple there's no need to bother with a domain name, a hosting service, and all those complications.

MemberAs Ginger mentioned, there are lots of ways to do this. You might want to try DesktopServer, which has a paid version and a free version...it lets you set up a server on your own computer, and you can install WordPress and then do anything you want (including trying out themes and plugins, just as if you were online...but you will be safe and secure running right there on your own computer. it's easy to set up.

MemberI understand what you're saying, and it looks that way to me too...even though I don't understand the technical things you've said there.
What bothers me, and lots of others who use WordPress but are not developers, is that there are still many, many things they could do to make WordPress work better...things they could do to make things easier for the average user, but they never seem to fix those problems...it's as if they would rather add built-in functionality for emojis (ridiculous) and make arbitrary changes to the way the Dashboard works rather than fix real problems.

MemberI don't know if this will help someone troubleshoot this problem, but when I view your site on my 27-inch iMac, in a couple different browsers, I don't see any problems...everything looks OK.
It's only when I view the site with my 13-inch MacBook Pro that I see the problem you're describing.

MemberHave you tried using something like Firebug or the "Inspect Element" command in Chrome? These tools could help show you where the extra space is in the CSS file, and then you can make adjustments.
Of course, if you put up the URL to your site, rather than a screenshot, someone could probably give you precise instructions.
