Hi Brad,
Thank you so much! You're a genius! 🙂I'm very grateful and appreciative of your help. It worked perfectly!
Huge thanks again.

mezzersMemberHi Victor,
Thank you so much for taking the time to check the site. I really do appreciate it.Not being technical, it took me a while to figure out what that might be and where the problem might be.
I had contacted Copyblogger as I'm hosted with Synthesis, and while they could see code issues, they felt the site should be restored from backup which would have meant losing 6 hours of work.
I've been racking my brains to find where it might be and I just figured it out now!
I was missing </script> in the <head> section where I have the Google Analytics code. You're an absolute genius Victor and I cannot thank you enough! You've no idea how relieved I am that I'm not going to lose all of my work.
Thank you so so much!
I had removed some code I had in there for hreflang as GWT were showing loads of errors for it, and I must have accidentally deleted the end </script>
Thanks a million Victor for taking the time to check my site in Firefox and for pointing out what the problem was. I am so grateful to you.
Thanks again! You're a gentleman and non-techies like me are blessed to have people like you on the forum here.
all the best,
MarymezzersMemberFigured it out. Marking this as resolved.
mezzersMemberIf no-one has the answer on how to do the above, would you instead know how to get rid of the 'Filed Under' section at the bottom of each post?
Mary
mezzersMemberAfter a lot of researching, I figured it out and found out how to add the byline back into the site.
Mary
mezzersMemberHi Nick,
Thank you so much for the speedy reply and clarification! I appreciate it. 🙂
Great that I don't have to do anything to make them 'nofollow' as that makes it much easier for me being a non-techie.
Thanks again Nick.
Mary
mezzersMemberThanks Brad. I really do appreciate the help.
I discovered that I can add the shortcode [post_comments] to the actual page and it will display the counter. I tried inserting it at the top of the page, just before the content, but it doesn't fit well, but I can add it to the bottom of the page, after the last line of the content, and it works fine there.
When I put it at the top of the page, it creates a huge gap between the headline and the content which looks weird and unnatural. While I would prefer to have it at the top of the page, I will settle for having it at the bottom, because at least then I have the counter.
Thanks again Brad for digging out that URL for me and for all your input. I am very grateful! 🙂
Mary
mezzersMemberHi Brad,
Thank you for the reply and for the link.
I am not a techie, so where would the code suggested on that website get entered? And would it definitely return the comment count on a page or is it only for a blog post?
Thank you so much for the help, I really appreciate it!
Mary
mezzersMemberJust got an email from Jennifer at Copyblogger Media Support and she has explained what I did that caused the problem.
Because I am still in test mode, I used the same page to link to for all the menu items, and so it caused all of them to change to the hover color when I selected any of them!
Have fixed it now and learnt a lot in the process!
Thanks again Brad for trying to help me - I really appreciate it.
Mary
mezzersMemberThanks Brad. Â I can create the custom links in the menu using page urls without any problem. And the links work and go to the page without any issues.
It's only the menu changing color to the hover color when it is a page it goes to that's the issue. It's doesn't do that if the custom url is a post.
It's very confusing, but I really appreciate you trying to help and for the information link on menu classes.
Thanks Brad.
Mary
mezzersMemberHi Brad,
Thank you so much, and thank you for the link showing examples of menu classes.
I was just coming back to update the thread, as I kept a copy of the style.css file before I made any changes, and I put everything back to the original settings and still had the problem.
Not being a techie, I was baffled, and after spending quite a lot of hours trying to figure out why the whole menu header changes to the hover color when I click on a menu item, I finally seem to have found the issue.
The menu items I created are custom links, but I used pages and not posts for them. I changed one of them (jewelry) to go to a post, and it works perfectly.
I did not realise that the custom urls had to be posts. I thought it would work for pages as well. Is that not possible?
Mary
mezzersMemberJust wanted to say that this has now been resolved. Thank you to everyone who helped and offered advice and guidance.
And a massive thank you to the Studiopress Support team and the Web Synthesis Support team who responded quickly and explained what
I needed to do.
So glad I was able to stay with the Metro theme as I really love it!
Mary
mezzersMemberHi Charlie,
Got the site back up and tried those changes. Only a small part of the logo still shows, so still not working. At a loss to understand why the logo cannot be added to the Metro theme easily. It is very frustrating.
Is there anyone who has successfully managed to install a logo for the Metro theme? Would you mind please explaining how you did it?
I would really appreciate it.
Mary
mezzersMemberThanks Charlie!
My site has gone down so I have put a support call into Synthesis. I was saving the functions.php file at the time so I don't know if it was that or something else.
Will try your suggestions again when the site is back up and really appreciate all of your help.
all the best,
Mary
mezzersMemberHi Charlie,
Thank you so much for all the help.
1. Will do.
2. The logo size seems to be 734 x 345 which I am assuming is way too big. I have sent an email to the designer and asked for it to be resized. I told them the size of the header and where I want to put it in the header so hopefully I will get that back fairly quickly.
Thank you for the code Charlie. I will try that with the logo as it and can edit it when I get the resized image, just to make sure that it works ok.
And thank you for finding the details on FTP access on Synthesis.
If I make those coding changes, if the theme or Genesis is ever updated, would I lose those changes and always have to keep implementing them?
Thanks again Charlie for your wonderful patience and help! It is greatly appreciated! 🙂
Mary
mezzersMemberHi Charlie,
Thank you for the steps.
The only thing is that I don't have access to Cpanel or anything like that, because my site is hosted by Web Synthesis. Before signing up for that, I explained I would be using Genesis and the Metro Theme and was assured that they wouldn't be any problems.
I have commented out the lines you suggested. I uploaded the logo as an image in WordPress so it is in the media library, edited the header line you mentioned but nothing at all is showing, I just get a blank white space.
I can go through support in Web Synthesis and ask if they can upload the logo, but first I need to know what size the Metro theme expects the logo to be? Of course that is assuming they will upload the file for me.
If there any other workaround that I could try?
Thanks Charlie for your help. I appreciate it.
Mary
mezzersMemberI really want to have the logo in the left hand side of the header. I don't want the logo to go the entire length of the header as it would look really tacky. I want the website to look professional.
Mary
mezzersMemberThank you for your quick reply - I appreciate it.
I had not tried that, but I installed it and tried it, and it did not help at all. I still get the exact same problem.
It is really frustrating not being able to doing something as simple as add a logo and I would prefer not to have to get another theme, as I like this theme, plus I have spent money on it. There should be instructions in the tutorials explaining how to upload a logo.
Any other thoughts on how I can get the logo to work? Also, does anyone know what size the logo should be for it to work with the Metro theme?
Appreciate any help that anyone can give as this is really holding me back. I don't want to move on with the theme unless I can get this working.
Mary
