August 6, 2014 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Enterprise Pro – Adding a Widget Area Between Home Top and Home Bottom #117463MarkAsackerMember
Hi Anita,
Thanks for the input.
The way they did it in Outreach Pro was the way I copied it as above.
It's a sub-footer widget area with sub-footer-left and sub-footer-right within it.
I have the widget area working the way I want (you can see the results guaranteed graphic is in sub-footer-left and the items they remove from the credit report are in sub footer right).
My problem is that I need Sub-footer (which contains sub-footer-left and sub-footer-right) to come right after the Home Top widget area (where the testimonials sit now). Then I want the home bottom then footer widgets.
Right now it's home top, home bottom, sub-footer, footer.
Does that make sense?
Again thanks for the help.
MarkAsackerMemberHi,
I don't mean to jump in but I had the same hiccup.
It's not a bug.
a:focus{outline:thin dotted} is referenced under the following section in the outreach stylesheet...
/* Baseline Normalize
normalize.css v2.1.3 | MIT License | git.io/normalize
--------------------------------------------- */I just added...
a:focus{
outline:none;
}To the end of the responsive slider section in the stylesheet and it went away.
Hope this helps
MarkAsackerMemberThanks for the help Sridhar and Susan!
Works perfectly!
MarkAsackerMemberHey Sridhar,
Thanks for responding.
No it wasn't the CSS I targeted but I tried it and the effect is the same.
The menu remains to the right rather than "responding" to the smaller screens and centering as it does prior to adjusting the CSS.
The more I look at the css I think it's using relative positioning but I'm not sure.
Any other thoughts?
MarkAsackerMemberHey Kurt,
I see it's been a few weeks since you've heard anything on your topic. Not sure if you've resolved the issue but in order to achieve what you're looking for you'd want to enter you image code into the...
"genesis_post_content" Hook in simple hooks.
This will output the image under the Date, Time and Author but before your post content.
If you haven't already, you may want to install the Genesis visual hook guide plugin located here...
http://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-visual-hook-guide/It will help you immensely when trying to figure out which hook to use.
Once you've installed, view a post in your browser. Hover over the "G Hook Guide" link in the admin bar and click "Action Hooks" to see all the Hooks on the page.
Hope this helps.
MarkAsackerMemberJared!
Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate your time.
After doing a bit more research I think I'm going to try and use conditional tags and genesis simple hooks plug-in.
Nick has written a great article explaining things here if you want to take a look...
http://designsbynickthegeek.com/tutorials/conditional-page-contentI'm still trying to figure it out but if I don't have any luck I'm going to revert to you method.
Thanks again for the reply Jared. Very helpful.
MarkAsackerMemberBrad, we got it figured out but I really appreciate the feedback my friend.
MarkAsackerMemberLooks like they're working fine to me Dave. I hover over Marketing 101 and I see the sub-navigation for 102 and 103. I clicked them both and they both go to the designated pages. Am I misunderstanding your question?
I'm using Firefox....
MarkAsackerMemberThanks Susan, I just did.
I just came back to check the thread to see if there were any other suggestions. But you are correct, just basic functionality no customization.
Thanks for the input Susan. Greatly appreciated.
MarkAsackerMemberAnita thank you for the response. I appreciate the input.
This was occurring prior to installing both of the plugins you mentioned however I still disabled the calendar plug-in as well as the logo slider just to rule it out but no luck.
In regards to adding something to the widget areas I have quite a few items in each of the areas already. 5 "featured page" widgets in home middle 1, 5 in home middle 2 and 4 in home middle 3.
In terms of progress on the project I didn't get to the footer widgets yet but since you mentioned quirky coding I figured I'd ad things to see if there were any issues there as well.
When I added a text widget to footer widget #2 it showed up in footer widget #3. Then I added a contact form (using contact form 7 and shortcode) into footer widget #2 and now the text widget in footer widget #3 is no longer appearing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So to recap, my issues are...
1. I currently have 14 "featured page" widgets spread throughout the home middle widgets but anything else I add will not show up or I have to log out then back in to get it to register.
2. When I add something to footer widget #2 it shows up in footer widget #3 and when I add something to footer widget #2 and #3 then footer widget #3 fails to show up.What I've tried based on suggestions....
1. Disable wp-super cache plug-in
2. Disable calendar plug-in
3. Disable logo slider plug-inAll plug-ins remain disable with no change to the issue...
I thank you for your help.
Any other ideas??
Note: I agree that this has to do with some of the coding because I have another clients site built on the enterprise theme and I experience the same issues. Every time I make changes to any of the widgets it takes a looooong time to register and I often have to log out then back in to see the changes. Everything starts out fine but as more widgets get added it starts to break down.
MarkAsackerMemberAny other thoughts Susan or anybody else?
MarkAsackerMemberHi Susan!
I really appreciate your help. Here's what I did.
I disabled wp-super cache plug-in but nothing changed.
I logged out and back in....nothing.
I have now completely deleted the caching plug-in....still nothing.
MarkAsackerMemberHe Anita! Thanks for the quick response.
You're right...I did make custom changes to the CSS and I did remove the responsive code.
The custom changes to the CSS have been restored to the default CSS. The only changes now are to things that should NOT have any bearing on how the site displays like color, fonts, etc.
The responsive code was removed because I figured if it would NOT "respond" nicely I would just have the desktop version without the quirks brought on by the responsive code.
I use Firefox and also have Google Chrome and IE8 installed on my computer. I run XP so I can't install IE9 but I'm using "Browsershots.com" and "DebugBar" to see how they render in other browsers. Everything is cool in Firefox, Chrome and Safari but still IE...all versions... have problems, especially with the responsive slider which, at this point is my biggest concern.
The excerpt area disappears when the screen width reaches a certain point. AND it's on purpose....here's the CSS to show that it's told to disable the excerpt view and directional nav links for mobile....
#content #genesis-responsive-slider .flex-control-nav.nav-pos-excerpt,
#content #genesis-responsive-slider .flex-direction-nav li a,
#content #genesis-responsive-slider .flex-direction-nav li a.prev {
display:none;
}This doesn't make any sense to me. It seems as though the author couldn't figure it out so they just decided to disable it. While I don't care so much about the navigational arrows I do care about the excerpt...it should remain visible and adjust the font size accordingly. I've tried to make it work but haven't been able to...If I remove "display:none;" the text ends up too big because the excerpt area shrinks to 29% and the "continue reading" link to the featured page disappears.
Any Ideas?
