Thanks for your followup. This is a site that isn't under my control and hasn't been modified for probably a couple of years. We are just going to go another route.
Thanks

lwoodsParticipantFirst, thanks much for your quick response, and I am not being "smart" but check them for what?
lwoodsParticipantForget it! I must have another problem. I do have a bunch of posts under the categories but the query is only returning one. I'll have to dig into the code.
lwoodsParticipantGot it. Thanks.
lwoodsParticipantThanks for the info, Brad. I was just trying to figure out what the call to dynamic_sidebar did. In your example it doesn't look like it's doing anything---or am I missing something. The codex doc says that it returns true/false.
lwoodsParticipantBrad:
In the previous reply is "dynamic_sidebar()" a method in a plug-in?
Thanks
lwoodsParticipantThanks for the "little beauty." I am using the "Genesis Visual Hooks" plugin and that helps a lot. And, I have already used some of Brian's code in order to clean up some post meta.
Thanks, again.

lwoodsParticipantDuh! Of course (I am just learning---obviously)!
Thanks for responding so quickly and clarifying.Larry
lwoodsParticipantFigured it out. Created a blog page and set the Custom Field query_arg to my CategoryID.
NOW, my question is, how do I get the Category description to display at the top of the page???
lwoodsParticipantHi,
Sorry but I haven't built it yet. Just want to know how to do it. I think that answer is to find a plugin with a shortcode that I can drop into my content area.
lwoodsParticipantSorry, but I don't understand your message. Link to what page?
lwoodsParticipantI give up. It WAS working (404) without any widgets. Now it's not. I have to get on to something else so I have to work on this later this evening.
FRUSTRATING!!!
lwoodsParticipantNo caching plugins. I am using HostGator shared hosting.
Try it now. I have pulled out all of the widgets from the home page.
lwoodsParticipantWell, I switched the theme to Twenty Eleven and the problem went away. Of course, it turned off Genesis Extender but after returning to Enterprise and reactivating Extender and rebuilding my home page the problem is back BUT I have discovered that the problem is in either WYSIWYG and/or the Custom Form widgets. When I went back to Enterprise and activated Extender I got the layout without the widget areas set up. No problem with the 404. Got the Genesis one. BUT when I loaded the widget areas with the WYSIWYG and Custom Form widgets I was back to the "File Not Found 404".
But, now the question: How do I turn off the caching that is going on in IE? It is darn near impossible to test for what the problem is because I keep getting old cached pages. I find if I refresh enough times I finally get the latest page, but this leads to confusion as to what I did to cause the problem.
Suggestions?
TIA
lwoodsParticipantThis reply has been marked as private.lwoodsParticipantSorry the not responding immediately. Was out of the office. I have not turned off all of my plug-ins. A little scared to do that since I have quite a bit of the site that is built on them and don't want to lose everything. As far as the child template is concerned I can't believe that it is the problem since it's a StudioPress theme.
I'll try to figure out something.
Thanks
lwoodsParticipantTest site, but here it is: http://sportsrefs.noworryweb.com
Thanks
lwoodsParticipantI guess your answer says it all!
I'm out of here.
lwoodsParticipantSo how do I set up my theme to be 1000 wide?
