Your top banner image is responsive and the title doesn't disappear (I tested in Chrome, IE11, Firefox, Opera, and Safari).
One issue is that you're using a .png image when this is not necessary; it's over 500KB!
I converted it to .jpg, and then I losslessly compressed it, and it's now 41KB (faster page load time).
So use this image: http://i.imgur.com/4i1UgVE.jpg
Jason WeberMemberGo to the WordPress repository and download the Yoast plugin. For more information, see this thread: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/#breadcrumbs.
Jason WeberMemberHi, Allie.
If you have a Custom CSS section somewhere in your WordPress Admin (highly recommended), you can add this snippet there. If you don't have one, just use this plugin: Simple Custom CSS. From there, juts go to (I believe) Settings >> Custom CSS and add these snippets in there.
If you don't have Custom CSS and don't want to add a plugin (I wouldn't know why), add it to your /wp-content/themes/digital-pro/style.css at the bottom.
I'll use the same orange color as the "Yes! I'll take the leap" button. You can change the color by switching the hex code from #ff6400 to something else; choose it here: HTML Hex Codes. The text shadows with a black (#000) outline are included to ensure your orange title and tagline stand out.
Here's the snippet for the Front Page 1 title:
.front-page-1 .widget_text .widget-title { color:#ff6400; -webkit-text-stroke: 1px black; text-shadow: 3px 3px 0 #000, /* Simulated effect for Firefox and Opera and nice enhancement for WebKit */ -1px -1px 0 #000, 1px -1px 0 #000, -1px 1px 0 #000, 1px 1px 0 #000; }
Then, for the tagline underneath the title, add this snippet in your Custom CSS:
.front-page-1 p { color: color:#ff6400; font-weight:700; -webkit-text-stroke: 1px black; text-shadow: 3px 3px 0 #000, /* Simulated effect for Firefox and Opera and nice enhancement for WebKit */ -1px -1px 0 #000, 1px -1px 0 #000, -1px 1px 0 #000, 1px 1px 0 #000; }
Just ask if you have any more questions. Good luck!
February 20, 2016 at 11:19 pm in reply to: Remove site_tagline area in Min Pro (w/o site-container and site-header move) #179522Jason WeberMemberYou should mark this as resolved, as it appears display:none resolved your issue (as it should have).
Jason WeberMemberOh, now I understand what you're trying to do, Vasilis. Here are the steps to take that will accomplish your objective:
(1)
Add the following to your child theme's functions.php (or custom functions or code snippets if you have that):genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'nav-social-menu', 'name' => __( 'Nav Social Menu', 'your-theme-slug' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the nav social menu section.', 'your-theme-slug' ), ) ); add_filter( 'genesis_nav_items', 'sws_social_icons', 10, 2 ); add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'sws_social_icons', 10, 2 ); function sws_social_icons($menu, $args) { $args = (array)$args; if ( 'primary' !== $args['theme_location'] ) return $menu; ob_start(); genesis_widget_area('nav-social-menu'); $social = ob_get_clean(); return $menu . $social; }
(2)
Remember to drag a Simple Social Icons plugin’s widget into the Nav Social Menu widget area and configure it.(3)
Add this to your child theme's style.css (or, if you have a custom CSS, add it there):.genesis-nav-menu .widget-area { float: right; padding-top: 2.2rem; }
If things don't look like they should, you can try reducing the rem from 2.2 to 1.5 or so.
Let us know how it goes!
If you're having trouble implementing the above, then you can follow these steps:
(1)
Add the following to your child theme's functions.php (or custom functions or code snippets if you have that):add_filter( 'genesis_nav_items', 'sws_social_icons', 10, 2 ); add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'sws_social_icons', 10, 2 ); function sws_social_icons($menu, $args) { $args = (array)$args; if ( 'primary' !== $args['theme_location'] ) return $menu; ob_start(); dynamic_sidebar('Social Menu'); $social = ob_get_clean(); return $menu . $social; }
(2)
Ensure that sidebar’s name is correct in the dynamic_sidebar function call. If you would like to do this in Secondary Navigation Menu, change primary to secondary.(3)
Go to Appearance -> Widgets and drag Simple Social Icons widget into ‘Social Menu’ sidebar. Configure the settings and enter in the URLs of your desired social sites.(4)
Add this to your child theme's style.css (or, if you have a custom CSS, add it there):#nav .widget { float: right; margin-right: 2px; } .socialmedia-buttons { margin-top: 6px; margin-right: 3px; } .menu-primary .socialmedia-buttons a { float: left; border-right: none; padding: 0; } .menu-primary .socialmedia-buttons img { margin-bottom: 0; }
Jason WeberMemberWell, it appears you have it resolved, per what you want. If so, simply mark this thread as resolved so we know.
Best of luck!
Jason WeberMemberCloudFlare wouldn't have anything to do with it.
Did you try reducing the rem to 1.5?
How did you get the Contact menu item to float:right?
Perhaps moving your Contact menu item to go along w/ the rest of the menu items will sort things out.
Jason WeberMemberI tested the first solution on Altitude Pro and Centric Pro, and both worked fine.
Jason WeberMemberYou're using the Genesis Sample child theme. I'm unsure why the first version didn't work. What happened when you tried to implement the 1st version?
You do realize that you were supposed to replace "your-theme-slug" with "genesis-sample", or whatever the theme's slug is, right?
Meanwhile, I'll read up on it and double check to make sure I gave you the right advice, which I am sure I did.

Jason WeberMemberI'm not sure why you're putting all that CSS in there.
For your menu on the Genesis Sample child theme -- if you want it to look like the demo -- you need to drag a Custom Menu widget into the header right widget area, and then select the menu.
If you would prefer not to have the menu there, simply drag a Simple Social Icons widget there.
It appears you're trying to use your menu as your primary navigation (Appearances >> Menus >> Menu Locations tab. This is perfectly fine.
But if you do that, then drag the Simple Social Icons widget into the header right widget area, and skip all that custom CSS.
Lastly, if you insist on that Custom CSS, increase the width from 250px to 350px.
Jason WeberMemberHi Victor. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Yes, I'm using Autoptimize to inline all of my CSS -- everything but the theme's CSS, which I excluded.
But even when deactivating that plugin (or all plugins), I still don't get a title.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond; still working on it myself!
Jason WeberMemberIn the Divine demo, some things are full width (those are widgets in the primary sidebar widget area).
"Must Reads" is in the split-left widget area.
"Sponsor" is in the split-right widget area.
Jason WeberMemberIf it's in the primary sidebar, it will be full-width (of the sidebar). That's what I thought you wanted.
Then you just drag other widgets (e.g., From the Blog) under your author profile, and so on. Then everything will be full width, if that's what you wanted.
Currently, I don't see the From the Blog widget on your homepage.
Jason WeberMemberOkay ... just so you understand what I'm talking about, see this screen capture of your site.
Jason WeberMemberOkay.
There are widget areas for sidebar / split left and sidebar / split right. Don't use those.
Instead, just put all of your widgets you're using (e.g., From the Blog) in the Primary Sidebar widget area, and don't use the split left / split right widget areas.
Hope this helped.
Jason WeberMemberOn the From the Blog widget area, you have some setting in your child theme (Divine) where it's set to sidebar-split-left .... I'm not familiar with this theme, but it's probably under Appearances >> Customize or Appearances >> Theme Options.
So it's a setting in your child theme, Divine.
I'm going to install Divine on a test domain, and see if I can locate the setting.
Jason WeberMemberYes, indeed! Clearing the memcached from the Siteground cPanel alleviated the issue, and I'm able to log in now with Genesis version 2.2.2.
Thank you for your help, Victor!
Jason WeberMemberThank you Victor. Indeed, I'm on a Siteground Cloud myself. I'll try clearing the memcached and report back to see if there is any success.
Thank you for taking the time to respond!
Jason WeberMemberHi, Katharina. It looks great!
I will give you two ways to get rid of the green bar. There's a recommended way, and another way.
1: Recommended way:
- Download and install the Simple Custom CSS plugin.
- Don't worry about people who tell you not to install too many plugins; well-coded plugins like this will not affect your page load times and will only make your site more secure, for reasons I'll mention.
- Within the Simple Custom CSS plugin settings (wherever they are in your WordPress dashboard), add the following lines:
.home-featured .widget-title { display:none; }
2: Not recommended way:
Simply use your web host's control panel, or your FTP utility, and add this to your style.css:.home-featured .widget-title { display:none!important; }
The reason #1 is the recommended method is because you want to do everything to avoid altering your theme's core files. By using Custom CSS, you are not altering your theme's files. This way, when your theme is updated, you will not lose any changes you've made.
Report back if you have any issues.
Good luck!
