NEvermind...it had to do with the Autoptimize plugin
jenglish647MemberThanks very much sir!
jenglish647MemberThanks for such a quick response Victor but I'm still not sure what I would need to do to fix it...would i need to add a front-page.php?
jenglish647MemberThanks for looking. I did get it worked out last night... Since I made the logo wider, I had to add background:contain to the media query for 500px. It's included already in media query for the 200 range. That was really throwing me off for some reason but glad it finally clicked! Thanks!
jenglish647MemberOH WOW, I feel like a dummy! You are 100% right and I just forgot I had a custom css file. Thank you!
jenglish647MemberI like it. Looks great!
jenglish647MemberWell even when I try to do it on the studiopress responsive tester it won't show anything....on my own iphone it looks fine but I'd like to see it across other devices...can you explain what kind of issues you see...is it the navigation?
jenglish647Memberare the non-responsive themes going to be made responsive? that would be AWESOME
jenglish647MemberIf anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it...
jenglish647MemberWell by golly it just started working after I did the dumb facebook debug thing a few times. It's nuts! Thanks guys for such quick responses. Have a blessed day!
jenglish647MemberActually it never was resolved...if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them and revisit the idea of fixing this site! 🙂 Thanks
jenglish647MemberThank you for responding but I really don't understand what you're saying. I'm looking at the css that comes with the sample child theme and basically just trying to understand the difference between the primary navigation and site navigation and trying to figure out which part I need to change in order to make my main navigation centered. And how to center it to look like the one in this theme -http://my.studiopress.com/themes/foodie/#demo-full - spread out and centered. Do I make changes to the .genesis-nav-menu or to the .nav-primary?
jenglish647Memberno. I'm using the main primary menu- not secondary...
jenglish647MemberIf I shouldn't be asking here then I'm sorry and you don't have to answer if you don't want to but IF I just start over and use the genesis sample child theme - how can I make it in a container like the screenshot I did before WITHOUT messing it all up? I tried to replace
/* Site Containers --------------------------------------------- */ .site-inner, .wrap { margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1140px; } .site-inner { clear: both; padding-top: 40px; padding-top: 4rem; }
with
.site-container { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #fff; border-radius: 5px; box-shadow: 0 0 15px #000; margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1140px; } .site-inner { margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1140px; } .wrap { margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1140px; }
But I don't think that is right....
jenglish647Memberok. I understand. Do you have an article on your blog about building a theme from the framework. I guess it needs to be html5 and responsive and the posts I'm pulling up on the web are so vague and I feel like I'm not doing things right. If you make a theme from scratch is it best practice to use the genesis sample child theme every time?
jenglish647MemberI am unable to provide a link as it's being built but I can provide a screenshot here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx8uD8KzdIoXUEVQMU5oUWoxM00/edit?usp=sharing
I ran code through the validator. It's not a div problem I don't think. It does this on every page where there are two sidebars activated. That's why I was thinking it had to do with the css. Could it be a problem in the functions? Thanks in advance for any help!
jenglish647Memberthanks 🙂
jenglish647MemberI think I figured it out by looking at another genesis website - http://www.genesisawesome.com/themes/dedicated-genesis-child-theme/demo/
I guess I just change the current css from:
.site-container {
margin: 0 auto;
max-width: 1152px;
}.site-inner {
clear: both;
overflow: hidden;
padding-top: 40px;
padding-top: 2.5rem;
}to:
.site-container {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #fff;
box-shadow: 0 0 6px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.05);
}
.site-container, .site-inner, .wrap {
margin: 0 auto;
max-width: 1140px;
}jenglish647MemberLauren, I got ya'! I'll check out the link and know for next time 🙂
Ahhh and Mr. Dalton,
There's really no need to try to make me feel stupider than I already feel 😉 BUT on the brighter side it's the supercilious tone in your latest post that drove me nuts enough to think even harder. It finally JUST HIT ME that apparently since I am using the Sandbox Starter theme, that particular code doesn't work with that theme so when I switched themes to the Sample Child theme it did work. I'm sorry I didn't realize that the code you gave there in option 2 was just for the Sample Child theme. Indeed it does work when I switched to that theme. SO, for the sake of keeping my sanity I'll just use the Sample Child theme and move on with life and forget all about old Sandbox until one day I learn all of this code language. Have a good day!Thank ya'll both for your help. I appreciate it!
jenglish647Memberok well thanks anyway. I wasn't trying to say that your solution doesn't work. Apparently I'm just in over my head and can't figure out how to make it work for myself....which is why I showed you my code to try to understand how to even "unhook the header" in the first place. I do have WP installed locally and I'll continue trying to play with it and figure it out on my own....and if someone can tell me how to put a forum code into a "GitHub Gist" or whatever I need to do next time so I don't get in trouble then I'd greatly appreciate it.
thanks.
