Yeah, you'll definitely want to compress that image down. However, to answer your question how to get the background CSS to work correctly, you want to use:
body { background: url(images/bg.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed; -webkit-background-size: cover; -moz-background-size: cover; -o-background-size: cover; background-size: cover; }
You can also use a jQuery plugin called Backstretch that's really easy to set up and is likely a better option.

Jon BellahMemberChange the cutstom body class function to:
/** Add custom body class to the head */ add_filter( ‘body_class’, ‘child_archive_class’ ); function child_archive_class( $classes ) { if (is_archive()) { $classes[] = ‘custom-archive’; return $classes; }}
Then in your CSS you can target that by using:
.custom-archive { YOUR CSS HERE }
No need for plugins.

Jon BellahMemberSo the hacky, probably-not-so-good way of fixing the problem is to add the following:
.author-box br { display: none; }
There are probably better ways of fixing it, but that should do it.

Jon BellahMember.sidebar { background: #210506; display: inline; float: right; margin: 5px 4px 20px; padding: 15px 15px 5px; width: 270px; }
This will make the sidebar 300px wide (accounting for the padding, since you're not using box-sizing:border-box;).
.content-sidebar #content, .sidebar-content #content { padding: 11px 10px 20px; width: 580px; }
Again, accounting for the padding, this will make the content box 600px.

Jon BellahMemberThere's a
<br>
tag on the post page, just below the
<h2>
that doesn't exist on the author page.

Jon BellahMemberAliKK,
A better route would likely be to use a custom page template. That will help you with customization, without you having to rely on widgets.
Here's a basic shell you can use for a template.
<?php /** * Template Name: Home Template */ remove_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop' ); add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'child_home_template' ); function child_home_template() { ?> <!-- INSERT YOUR HTML HERE --> <?php } genesis();
Save the file to your child theme folder (name it something like home-template.php), then go into the Home page in WordPress and set the template to "Home Template" and voila.
