Awesome, thank you!
GrimwolfMemberThe site is here, if someone could try to reach the log in page themselves; http://www.blackwolfbrotherhood.com/
Might make this easier.GrimwolfMemberYeah, it gives the same "page not found" error.
And to Shreck, the page it takes me to is a plain error page. My plugins are still active.
GrimwolfMemberBrian's code crashed my site, but I was able to find what I needed from that link to Nick's site. Thank you.
GrimwolfMemberAh, yes. It was doing what it should. Just took a while to update, like you said.
GrimwolfMemberThat was exactly what I did.
Is it normal then for my ad spots to have no open gap where they should be, and for Adsense not to have updated the "application under review" message a full day later?
This was all just giving me the impression that my ad code was not working properly. I even tried changing the adds to display a solid colored box when invalid, but was still seeing nothing at all.
GrimwolfMemberYes! I finally figured out the missing step.
You don't add Stylesheet.css to the fonts folder, where it starts out. You copy the code INSIDE Stylesheet.css and paste it somewhere inside the style.css file found inside your child theme folder, the same place you should place the fonts folder. (I pasted it inside the block for Defaults near the top of the file, though I'm confident it makes no great difference where you paste it).
Also, the code found inside the stylesheet.css file really does need to have fonts/ appended to the start of each directory listing for the fonts.
After that, you tell it where to use the font by doing what I did earlier and finding the bits that look like "font-family: ‘Open Sans’, sans-serif;" in various areas, and adding your custom font as the first one listed.
GrimwolfMemberI didn't find anything inside minimum > style.css that looked exactly as you descriped, with the font code immediately following h1 {
But I found similar things, like this:
/* Headlines
------------------------------------------------------------ */h1,
h2,
h2 a,
h2 a:visited,
h3,
h4,
h5,
h6 {
font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;
font-weight: 700;
line-height: 1.25;
margin: 0 0 10px;
}And tried changing
font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;
to
font-family: 'immortalregular', Open Sans, sans-serif;
but it didn't work.Also, I tried re-uploading all the fontsquirrel files unaltered.
The code inside the stylesheet.css included in the font folder now looks like this:
@font-face {
font-family: 'immortalregular';
src: url('immortal-webfont.eot');
src: url('immortal-webfont.eot?#iefix') format('embedded-opentype'),
url('immortal-webfont.woff') format('woff'),
url('immortal-webfont.ttf') format('truetype'),
url('immortal-webfont.svg#immortalregular') format('svg');
font-weight: normal;
font-style: normal;}
I tried using the .ttf font on my computer itself and it works properly, so the files aren't broken.
I've also tried viewing it in three different browsers, including Firefox, IE and Chrome.
GrimwolfMemberI still don't fully understand; where in the style.css should I place that new line, and what do you mean by "find h1 in style.css and specify that font face"?
Should I find the line that says "h1," and add some bit of code next to it?I tried simply adding immortalregular to the start of similar looking code already existing inside style.css, but that didn't work. Somehow it seemed to do nothing at all.
I also seem to be getting a background error on my site now saying some file is pointing to an incomplete directory, which I think may be the stylesheet.css included in my fonts folder which, after returning it to the default values, is no longer pointing to any existing directory in which to find the fonts.GrimwolfMemberAwesome, thank you. Following that guide I was able to open the file in FTP and remove the changes I made there, upload it to the site and it was fixed.
GrimwolfMemberThanks.
With that out of the way, does anyone know then how to un-crash my site? The Dashboard is crashed too, so I can't just undo the code change I made. I'm curious how something that simple could have even caused such a massive issue. It's not like I messed with any of the existing code.GrimwolfMemberThank you for the help. 😀
GrimwolfMemberWhat would I need to do to undo everything and place the site back into it's starting condition?
GrimwolfMemberAh, yeah. I'm still trying to get the terminology down.
I'm talking about the very first page seen after just typing in the name of the site.
It might be easier with an example. Here's the site I'm working on; http://www.grimwolfgallery.com/
Now as you can see the featured image is there, but blank. Ordinarily I could easily assign an image to it by just going to my Pages options, choosing to edit the page, and selecting the Featured Image assigned to it.
But since that is just the very base page, it isn't listed under Pages at all.If you scroll down you can see the big Facebook Like Me button, which is the widget I was referring to. I added it by following the tutorial and simply going into Appearance > Widgets and adding the code it told me to under the Home Featured #1 section. As far as I can see, there isn't any option to control which page of the site this would appear on.
GrimwolfMemberBy God, I am so sorry. You have to admit though that this is not all my fault. This tiny edit window is forcing my hand.
This is the last post for today, at least.
I've narrowed it down to some sort of database issue. I know this because I tried uploading my own image and it worked fine. This means the issue is that the site can't find the base images that were supposed to be included with the theme, like the Featured Image and icons.
Now I just need to figure out how to get those working/restored/whatever.GrimwolfMemberAre you kidding me? Post editing blocked again, already? I don't want to spam the site, but this is forcing me.
ANYWAY
Based upon the issue I'm having with both the icons and the featured image, the problem seems to be that my site refuses to display any images for some reason. I don't know why.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?GrimwolfMemberWon't let me edit my post now, so I'll have to make a new one.
So I tried moving it into other sections other than Home Featured #. When I do, I still don't see the proper image, but I do see the message;
Facebook
Like me.
It isn't even a link. Just text.
That page also seems to wrongly imply that the large featured image should have been there from the very beginning, and explains only how to replace the "existing" image with another of your choice.
GrimwolfMemberAh, that does explain it all. Thanks.
Actually, the instructions are perfectly clear and I understand exactly what they want me to do, but after following them nothing has happened for some reason.
I went into Appearance>Widgets, and on the right side I opened Home Featured #1, dragged a Text widget inside it, gave it the title Facebook and inside the content I pasted:
<
a
class
=
"icon-facebook"
href
=
"http://www.facebook.com/bgardner/"
></
a
>
<
h4
>Facebook</
h4
>
Like me.
I then selected Save and then Close. I couldn't find any sort of Publish button anywhere, so I just viewed the home page again and no button was there.
GrimwolfMemberSomeone at support was able to help me. Apparently some error during purchase caused an inactive/unusable account to be created, associated with the Email I gave.
My own guess would be that I actually DID enter the wrong credit card number, so it created the account but did not finish the purchase. Without having a purchase on the account it was unusable, and the "email is already in use" message was likely not an error stating part of why the purchase failed, but rather saying that the email I had listed in the form was not available anymore.
GrimwolfMemberNo, this is a different issue. I created this forum account afterward for the sole purpose of asking this question 😛
